Located in the heart of Bibury, which is often known as the most beautiful village in England, is The Swan Hotel. Formerly a Cotswold Coaching Inn, The Swan provides the perfect haven from which to spend your wedding day whether you're planning a traditional big white wedding, something a little different or a more intimate affair, we can accommodate your needs. Our Library is cosy and homely, providing an ideal space for smaller ceremonies, licensed for up to 24 guests. If you'd like your wedding to be more intimate, we are happy to provide witnesses should you wish to be married quietly and with the minimum of fuss. The Signet Room is our elegant dining room, and is licensed for up to 110 guests. This room certainly has the wow factor for your big day and can be used for your ceremony, wedding breakfast and even your evening reception, where live bands and/or DJ's are welcome. Prefer to be outside? Make the most of our picturesque riverside location with an outdoor wedding ceremony in our beautiful flower-filled gardens. Congratulations on your engagement! Planning a wedding can be exciting and a bit overwhelming at the same time which is where I come in. As the wedding coordinator at The Swan I look after all our couples from the moment they choose us, to the final dance at the end of the night. The staff could not have been more helpful on the day. Natalia, Molly and Charlotte were wonderful throughout the process and a special thank you to Natalia who was there on the day. All our guests were unable to stop praising the venue, and we will remember it fondly for the rest of our lives. We fell in love with The Swan Hotel when we first visited as a venue out of sheer curiosity, and ended up booking. The staff could not have been more helpful on the day. The whole process of planning with Molly was super easy and the day itself was completely faultless thanks to Molly and the team for being so attentive. Hotel rooms, location and service was brilliant and would recommend to others. Everyone had a great time. The location and the village is absolutely beautiful. Our day was just perfect thanks to the wonderful Molly and all the team at the Swan hotel. Molly was attentive and answered my non-stop stupid questions for months in the lead up to the wedding and on the day ensured everything ran smoothly without me having to think about a single thing. All involved from bar staff, waiters, chefs and reception staff went out of their way to make us feel special and were an absolute credit to the hotel. It’s in such a beautiful location and given it was an outside temperature of 2 degrees and a crisp frosty day with blue skies we made the most of the different spots for photo’s! We have had several guests commenting what a gem of a hotel it is, how amazing the food was and just what a wonderful day was had by all! Every single person at the Swan made an impact on our day and played a part in making our wedding the most special day. Both Molly's, their teams and Grace were just so perfect. They went out of their way to make us feel special, looked after and relaxed in feeling that everything was taken care of. I am a perfectionist and control freak and on the morning of our wedding I was relaxed and having the best day, because I had complete trust that everything would be ok. All of our wishes and concerns were taken care of, and nothing was too much trouble. Every little detail was thought of and they went above and beyond what we expected, and considering we both work in travel, myself in luxury travel, I have very high standards and they exceeded them. Even down to when we were lining up to walk down the aisle and my toddlers braces snapped and they had a safety pin at hand to fix them and keep everything on track. I didn't even know about it until after the wedding. We stayed for 3 nights, and even 2 mornings after the wedding we were still treated like it was the morning of our wedding. Every guest raved about The Swan from the food, the staff and the venue itself, and those that stayed didn't want to leave. We fell in love with the Swan the day we happened upon it by pure chance, years before we even got engaged. There was an extremely poignant and personal reason for getting married there and we thank you from the bottom of our hearts for making the day everything we hoped for and more. The riverside setting of this venue makes a perfect backdrop for photographs with numerous bridges to choose from. The most beautiful venue.The Swan inn is not my favourite venue just for its gorgeous location, it’s timeless style or it’s sheer beauty. But it’s one of my favourites because the staff are just so welcoming, calming and supportive. The team there know exactly how to support any request and it’s amazing to see all the happy faces after their service. It’s a stunning Cotswold hotel steeped in history and is very atmospheric and magical. The surroundings are also very quaint and beautiful. The staff are so friendly and helpful. Describe the best wedding that happened at your venue?
There are too many but a moment that really stands out is the groom secretly hiring a piper to play the bag pipes as the bride walked down the aisle, she had no idea about it until about 30 seconds before she walked down the aisle. What made it even more special is that it was the same piper that just happened to be playing nearby when they got engaged up in Scotland who took a few photo’s for them, the groom took his contact details then without the bride knowing!
Either this or a different groom hiring singing waiters which not even the bride knew about, they blended in with our staff for the 1st half of the meal and at the end they burst into song, created a fantastic atmosphere and had everyone on their feet dancing and singing along.
What is your No.1 wedding planning tip for couples?
To set weekly/monthly planning goals and to write idea’s and questions down as you think of them, there is a lot to think about and it’s easy to forget them.
What’s your favourite personal touch you’ve seen at a wedding?
Duck races in the stream in the garden, getting guests to decorate their ducks in advance and bring them along to the wedding ready to race!
