It also features The Courtyard bar and restaurant, three function and conference rooms and an outdoor roof terrace. At the heart of The Lawrence is the wedding space which holds up to 80 in the day and 130 at night.
The 19th century hotel was renovated in 2018. After extensive work, the hotel offers a bespoke experience for guests, created with a luxury yet timeless style giving guests a space to relax and unwind. The design-led boutique hotel was inspired by some of the leading hotels in the world, but in keeping with features of the original building, with luxurious roll top baths, classic subway tiles in the bathrooms, Victorian tiled floors and beautiful sash windows

Olivia and her amazing team made sure every single detail was meticulously planned and executed perfectly !! The venue - the lay out of the hotel worked perfectly for a wedding, allowing people to mingle , relax and take a breather and also socialise throughout the whole day... it was perfect ! 10/10 The team - Olivia .... just wow !!! It was so nice to have someone in charge, whom cared so much about our day as we did !! She is an absolute star !! The rest of the staff weren't far behind at all.... we honestly dont have any complaints , nearly all of our guests commented on their professionalism and how attentive they all were to everyone's needs! 10/10 The food - from booking, to eating our final breakfast the day after our wedding the food was fantastic! We have been numerous times throughout and always had a meal (and defo will be time and time again) . 10 / 10 The rooms - we had booked out all of the rooms for our wedding evening, every single guest commented on how clean and well looked after they were ! The bridal sweet was amazing too ! 10/10 Please book this venue and their amazing team with absolute confidence. This is the first time anybody from The Lawrence has contacted us to ask how our day went. Most of our experience with you left us quite unhappy. When the evening guests arrived, you increased all the prices at the bar. Afterward, many of our guests told us they were charged an extra £2–£3 per drink. Additionally, there was no drinks price list displayed behind the bar, which I believe is a legal requirement when serving alcohol. As a result, the majority of our guests chose to go across the road to the Gardeners Arms, where the drinks were significantly cheaper. Regarding the wedding itself, we noticed that The Lawrence often showcases photographs from other people’s weddings. However, there isn’t a single photo of our wedding on any of your pages. It feels as though our wedding never even happened there. During the planning stage, we had frequent meetings with Michael, and everything was presented to us in a wonderful light. But after the event, it was as though it was forgotten and like it never happened. This has left us feeling quite upset.We got married at your venue in June 2023.
