Welcome to The Crown & Thistle in Abingdon. Dating from around 1605, The Crown & Thistle is a meandering 400-year-old grade II listed coaching inn - one that's been immaculately refurbished for 21st century tastes.
Our boutique hotel rooms, cosy pub and stylish restaurant are made up of 3 individual buildings, clustered around a listed cobbled courtyard framed by a stunning 200-year-old wisteria. We think you'll agree: it makes for an atmospheric backdrop for anything from a drink with friends to a full-on social event.
While this place really is something very special, you don't need a special occasion to enjoy it.

All our guests commented on how beautiful it was! Really lovely and intimate, the cobbled courtyard with the festoon lights was stunning and the staff were brilliant in making sure our day was perfect! Alice did a great job sorting all the finer details and ensuring that everything was exactly as we wanted it to be! The rooms were fabulous and the bridal suite was stunning! Not to mention the food which was delicious!!! A brilliant venue for a small, intimate rustic wedding all in one place! The C&T was just the most perfect venue for our wedding in October! All our guests commented on how beautiful it was! The day was perfect though and the Crown and Thistle staff did an exceptional job moving people around, serving food, accommodating special requests and just generally be amazing. It's a beautiful venue, perfect for a smaller wedding and I couldn't have been happier with our day there. I would heartily recommend the Crown & Thistle, not least because the food is just so good and we had so much positive feedback on our menu and the venue itself. I'll be honest, I was worried about everything leading up to the wedding. It's just my personality! The day was perfect though and the Crown and Thistle staff did an exceptional job moving people around, serving food, accommodating special requests and just generally be amazing. It's a beautiful venue, perfect for a smaller wedding and I couldn't have been happier with our day there.
