Spend your special day in our gorgeous traditional Georgian ballroom – its high ceilings are dripping with chandeliers...
Perhaps our modern St Quentin’s Suite is more to your taste; stylish and intimate with its very own private courtyard.
The Georgian Ballroom, with high ceilings and ornate chandeliers is an elegant and traditional room for a ceremony.
The aisle leads up to a beautiful Georgian archway underneath which the ceremony takes place. This suite is part of the grade II listing of the hotel, its architectural features provide outstanding photo opportunities.
Our St Quentin’s Suite is perfect for hosting your Wedding breakfast. with its beautiful private courtyard giving a beautiful back drop for your day.
On a pleasant day, the bi-folding doors can be opened to allow the indoor and outdoors to merge, giving an alfresco feel.
The St Quentin’s Suite, on the ground floor, is a perfect suite to host 50-100 guests, and up to a maximum of 150 in the evening.
Its stylish chandeliers give the room a sparkle of elegance, along with a modern twist. Its glass doors which run the entire width of the suite are bi-folding, enabling the courtyard to become part of the wedding reception suite.
Our Bridal Suite is the epitome of elegance, the perfect start to married life. It is also ideal for that special occasion, or an indulgent weekend away.

- LLouisa Williams30/09/2024The best day we could’ve ever had!The best day we could’ve ever had!We had our wedding here on the 21st of September and oh my god this venue was just amazing. The staff were just phenomenal nothing was too much, they really looked after all of us. The food is fantastic, we opted for a twilight wedding so we had a buffet style meal around 7:30pm which was just perfect. The bar staff were on it, remembering everyone’s favourite drink, they were so nice! The Dj that came in the package was brilliant, we had really good communication in the days upcoming to the date and he just perfected the playlist, he got our taste in music down to a T. Amy the wedding planner is soooo approachable and comes up with good ideas when you’re stuck. Amy the wedding coordinator and all the staff at the bear went out of their way to make sure that she's had a big day to remember, nothing was too much trouble for them, and everything run smoothly without any hick ups, so again thankyou all for that. Most of us stayed the night at the bear and again everything was great. Most of us went over the penny farthing café for breakfast which again was very good.Our daughter had her wedding at the bear on august the 10th, and what a day it was. a big thank you to all the team at the bear for making our daughters day the very best. The hotel is such a lovely venue for a wedding and the cube was lovely to have the drinks reception. Staff are amazing. The wedding meal was amazing and the rooms were great and very clean. The cottage was clean and tidy and very well presented, beds were comfy and the bathroom had a large shower. Lots of storage around too. They provided more than enough food in the kitchen and the choice was very good. There was WiFi and a large TV in the lounge and one in the master bedroom. We sat in the garden in the afternoon, yes the sun came out!! The garden could have done with a bit of a tidy up, (the gardens in the hotel are beautiful) and had a very pleasant couple of hours there in the sunshine. Hotel staff were on hand for any questions we had and the whole experience was very enjoyable would recommendWe stayed in the cottage near the hotel when attending a wedding. It is a lovely hotel in the centre of Cowbridge. The parking is very easy with a resident's car park at the rear of the property.This is an excellent venue for a wedding. Best wedding I could have hoped for!All the staff couldn’t do enough for me, nothing was too much trouble for anyone and they are so friendly. The venue was stunning. Every aspect of my day was smooth as silk and not one detail was missed. The food is STUNNING! All of our guests commented on how delicious it was and a lot want to come back to visit the restaurant with their loved ones to try more of it. The bridal suite was gorgeous! Breakfast was beautiful and everything was so fresh. They honestly made my wedding day the best it could possibly be and all with a smile and genuine passion for that they do. Describe the best wedding that happened at your venue?
Its almost impossible to pinpoint an individual Wedding as each Wedding is just as special to the next however
My personal favourite Weddings are those that are a little outside the box.
Seeing how some of our couples are so creative with ideas whether that be themes &/or props they always stay in the forefront of my mind.
What is your No.1 wedding planning tip for couples?
To enjoy every moment, because it will go so fast! I would also say to choose everything on the day for you, as a couple and make it reflect who you are and what represents you. I would also say stick strong when it comes to outside advice from friends & family on all aspects (including the guest list!). Its YOUR day and it should be all about you!
What’s your favourite personal touch you’ve seen at a wedding?
I absolutely love a little personal touch and my favourite so far this year (2022) is an acrylic sign of the couples surname that was hanging from a moongate arch so beautifully decorated behind the top table! The couple were then able to take this acrylic sign home to put on their wall!

Where’s the best photo spot at your venue?
I feel like a photo captured on the high Street or on the zebra crossing with the bridal party is certainly a firm favourite from our couples it is so out of the ordinary from the “staged” photo shots.
Have you had any celebrity guest or wedding at your venue?
A co-ordinator never tells!
What’s your favourite canapé?
It has to be Mini Sausages with a honey & mustard glaze (so delicious!)
What’s your favourite midnight treat?
Bacon Rolls at midnight have been a well known midnight treat post wedding!
What is your venue's most unique feature?
The Bear really has so many unique features due to the age and history of the building. Our cellars restaurant is very unique and such a beautiful room to dine in! I would also say our private courtyard attached to our St Quentin’s suite is a unique addition to the room, its almost so peaceful & private. Situated on a high street that is extremely unique!
What part of your business are you most proud of?
Our Team, Team Bear is certainly a family & I think we are all proud to work together to help create such timeless memories for our couples.
