I think I enjoyed my wedding a bit too much, a room full of family and friends all together...and it was a tad cold outside so I needed a few tipples to keep me warm. Maybe had a few too many.
The wedding weekend started the night before with a sit down buffet in the down stairs bar for everyone staying at the hotel. We were allowed to do what we want led pretty much. Could even take the dogs. And it allowed us to get to know the staff.
The day of the wedding, I had emma counting my day for me so everything went to plan. Walking into the room where the ceremony was held was beautiful, and full of love. Thainstone was the first ever place I went to for a wedding when I was 12, and every time I’ve been there the room is always set up so each time it has a different feel making each wedding unique.
I loved the set up after the ceremony, I even got to taste some of my canapés...there wasn’t a chance I wasn’t going to miss out as they looked amazing. The drinks were flowing for everyone. They also done my dad proud with the whisky station I had set up for him.
We still had pictures to take so the photographer suggested going back into the ballroom for window shots. And when we walked in they had just finished setting it up for the meal and we both went wow. The flowers were amazing, All the little details I had asked for were there. It was amazing. More than we could have asked for. Val Morrison’s flowers were a loving dream.
The food, my favourite part! Well I could eat it all over again! It was lovely! Everyone’s plate was emptied maybe even licked clean.
The cutting of the cake and first dance is when everything got a bit blurrier, I will blame the flashing lights. Then the band started and they were even better than I thought they were going to be. Big papas, I would hire them again and again if I was allowed to organise a big party. Brilliant band! I believe I wasn’t off the dance floor, I lost my husband due to enjoying everyone else’s company...normal yes?! The bar staff had a lot on their hands, 200 guests to keep happy and they managed! Even though everyone was full, we all still managed the chilli buffet! The end of the night came and the hotel kept the guests happy as they waited for the bus to take everyone home.
And the next day...well that breakfast got inhaled, I ate with a mission! It was amazing!
Others that made the day the best, cakes by Fiona, I don’t think I have ever seen a cake like it, it was my design and 100x better! Rachel Roy gave me the dress but sally made it my dream dress by saying yes to all my alternations. Carly fixed our hair up! Made it a fun experience. Our photographer made us forget someone was even taking photos, then we got the pictures and allowed us to enjoy it all over again! Pretty little lady bird made my invite design down to a t, little art work! Three tiers made my quirky ideas a reality and added that touch of magic. Dainty doll made my nails unique! My favourite part of all, our humanist, kirsty! She made it the most memorable, amazing ceremony, she made it us, caring, loving and funny. She also made us look beautiful cause she was also my make up artist and she will always have a place in our hearts even though she passed away. She made our day special.
If I had to critic anything and this is struggling, thainstone maybe needed more bar staff but that’s just trying to find something to improve on and a sign my family and friends drink too much and too quickly! I am believe I am included in that, cause by the end of the night I was a merry blurry bride...but we will blame the twirling on the dance floor not the many glasses of fizz, shots and gin!
