Description

At St Helen's Church we love weddings. Whether your wedding will be a grand society affair or small and intimate, we love weddings. Most of the couples we marry have an existing connection with the village of Wheathampstead, however each year there are couples who choose to host their reception at a nearby venue (Brocket Hall for example) and wish to hold their marriage service in church. We can always find a way to say YES! So, if you'd like to be married at St Helen's Church we will make sure you are legally entitled to do so. We will do everything possible to make sure your wedding is personal and just right for you. We can provide our church choir and organist, equally we are delighted to have visiting choirs, gospel singers, brass bands or (almost) anything else to make it your perfect start to married life. And after the service, what could be better than the traditional sound of wedding bells ringing out to announce to everyone that you've tied the knot?

FAQs

Describe the best wedding that happened at St. Helen's Church?

It's so hard to choose because every wedding is special. Earlier this year one couple brought their own band and the service was conducted by the couples Pentecostal Minister along with the local vicar - it was really memorable. Just two days ago we had a classic white wedding at which the choir sang beautifully and the recently restored organ sounded glorious.

What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?

Don't be scared of meeting the vicar at your local church - in all likelihood you will be pleasantly surprised at how friendly and relaxed they are.

What’s your favourite personal touch you’ve seen at a wedding?

One bride had her two dogs as "bridesmaids" and her horse was waiting outside the church for her. If you'd like a personal touch for your wedding, just ask!

Describe St. Helen's Church in 5 adjectives

a stunning church, a perfect venue for a classic wedding, and a friendly team.

Where’s the best photo spot at St. Helen's Church?

Outside if the sun is shining, inside if the weather isn't so good! Unlike some churches we are happy for your photographer to take pictures (or video) during the service providing they are discreet. This gives you a record of the moment you exchanged your marriage vows - the most important moment of your big day.

Have you had any celebrity guest or wedding at St. Helen's Church?

Yes, but we're too discreet to name them!

What part of your business are you most proud of?

Our team of Wedding Welcomers who are there on the day to make sure everything works smoothly.
