Absolutely beautiful venue, lovely hotel and great location! The staff somewhat let the place down, my mother in law to be called a few months before our wedding (which had been booked months previous) to book a room for the night of the wedding to be told that there was no wedding booked on the date given so she couldnt book a room with the discount. We were then told just a couple of months before the wedding that they wouldn't have enough chairs for our evening guests as they booked another function the day of our wedding (we originally weren't going to have a reception and then changed our mind) and we came so close to cancelling until they reassured us that there would be enough furniture. The day before the wedding I checked into the hotel and the porters were amazing they helped us carry decorations and everything we'd bought with us up to our suite however the reception staff not being communicated to about the room being paid for on check out and asking for the money upfront which we did not have. I then checked numerous times throughout the evening when I could go and set up the decor that we had bought with us in the ceremony rooms to be told that the chairs would be set up 'in half an hour' for all evening and then the following morning! The morning of my wedding the chairs were still not set up so I could not set up what I wanted, i called reception to be told that my wedding was being held outside which i was surprised at seeing as it had rained all week and had been predicted rain for the duration the day! The receptionist then laughed when i suggested maybe not getting married in the rain and ruining my dress!! We wanted to also set up the table for our meal and couldnt do that until breakfast was finished for the hotel even though we had a separate part of the hotel and it didnt take 2 seconds for them to rearrange the 4 tables we needed so I had to wait and come down to the restaurant with my hair and makeup down and do it myself all while trying to avoid my fiance. The ceremony was lovely in the Windsor Lounge however there was no curtain/blind over the main door the room so I could have been seen walking over. We had our drinks reception which was lovely and our photographs, we had no private space whatsoever, members of the public and hotel guests were continually walking through our group and we were made to feel like we were in the way. We were then told to go through to the main hotel building for our meal but then had to wait 45 minutes just to be sat down, we were told they had to tick off the food orders even though we'd pre-ordered so we were then delayed. The food was absolutely incredible, massive portions and the wine is fab! Due to the delay, my parents had to go and set up the rest of the evening reception as they had organised a surprise for us, my husband then went to help and then the staff bought over prosecco (not the advertised champagne!!) for the toast so I ended up toasting myself! The evening pretty much went off without a hitch apart from again, more members of the public walking through the middle of it! My husband put it perfectly, he said 'it feels like we called up and booked 2 weeks ago and they've fit us in as a favour'. We weren't made to feel special at all on what was our special day, luckily our friends and family saved it for us! Absolutely beautiful venue, lovely hotel and great location!
