Describe the best wedding that happened at Restaurant 1861?
One of the most memorable has to be Sara and Craig, they had been visiting us for a few years beforehand with Craig proposing in the car park!! They had a diverse friend and family group with many different requirements, but such lovely people. The wedding breakfast was for 18 people and together we created a truly fabulous dining experience full of incredible tastes and colour, all themed to Sara's vision. Sara, Craig and their growing family continue to visit us and hopefully one day we may help them with another big celebration.
What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?
Consider the scents around on the day as well as the visual aspects. In a previous life when Kate was the wedding planner, the 00's trend of cheese wedding cakes has left a vivid memory, there's nothing quite like an aged Stilton in a warm sunny room filled with people!! Alternatively a bride who decorated the tables with sweetpeas from her own garden is equally memorable for very different reasons.
What’s your favourite personal touch you’ve seen at a wedding?
We once did a Christmas wedding where each guest recieved a personalised christmas decoration as a favour.
