Description
We can accommodate up to 120 guests in the spacious Main Hall which opens directly onto a beautiful urban wooded garden, an ideal location for photographs and arrival drinks. If you have a wedding reception or a special occasion to plan, whether you want to organize a laid-back lunch or a sumptuous sit-down supper, our venue can provide a wonderfully flexible space and we will work with you to create your ideal event.
We pride ourselves on delivering a flexible, great value, friendly and professional service. We also work tirelessly to provide a relaxed, friendly, supportive and conducive atmosphere for you and your guests.
The Main Hall itself features a beautiful 9ft concert grand piano, a wonderful way to entertain guests. There is a high-spec in-house sound and lighting system, whether you simply want to plug in a playlist or jive along to a live band.
External catering is permitted, offering you flexibility in terms of the style of cuisine you crave, with an on-site kitchen available if required. Outdoor catering such as food trucks & street food stalls are possible, opening up an abundance of options. As well as offering a low corkage charge on wine you supply, our Licensed bar with great prices will be fully staffed and stocked.

Our Main Hall is available from 9am-11pm on Saturdays, the hall hire is £79 per hour from 9am-5pm and £107 per hour from 5-11pm. This includes use of our tables and chairs for up to 100 guests.

The whole team there were incredibly helpful, relaxed & just helped to make us feel really welcome on the day. The venue is beautiful & the trees out the back made us feel like we weren't getting married in London. Well, we approached Mark and Anna back in late 2019 and from that point we knew we were in safe hands. We started to visit the house more regularly for coffee and family events, and became even more thrilled with our choice of venue due to the beautiful garden, incredibly friendly sense of community, and wonderful warm nature of the staff. Sadly, our planned date of October 2020 was unable to go ahead because of the Pandemic, but we felt totally supported by everyone, and had no problem rescheduling for the following year, October 2021. The team at Mycenae House made the run up to the big day as smooth and easy for us as possible. We continued to meet with Mark and the team regularly to discuss ideas and logistics, and we were always greeted with a complementary cup of coffee. Nothing was too much trouble for them! When the big day finally came everyone was so helpful, quick and willing to help organise the caterers, band and guests, meaning we could relax and enjoy our day (We must give a special shout out to Stefan and Ian who went above and beyond!). The ballroom gave the perfect informal vibe, and the beautiful garden made for some gorgeous autumnal pictures. We couldn’t have asked for anything more from the team at Mycenae House. It was a great option for us as it gave us more freedom than lots of other venues in the area, like getting to use our own caterers and had the added bonus of the stunning open garden. Communication from staff was great throughout and on the day itself staff were friendly and helpful. As well as Mycenae being a lovely building in it's own right it was great celebrating our day in a venue that does so much for it's community. We would recommend Mycenae to anyone looking for a venue for their special event. We used the beautiful big ball room space, with lovely wooden floors and big windows looking out over the garden. This was a big pull for us, the beautiful ancient poplar trees and a woodland coppice appealed to our country upbringing. The staff and team at Mycenae were always really friendly and well organised, which was reassuring. And in a way it was lovely for us to go somewhere that was already part of our lives together. For our part, we designed our own ceremony with a humanist celebrant who was wonderful at making everyone feel part of our very special day and making it unique. We decorated Mycenae House in our own style, wrote place names and even made a chocolate cake.
