For couples dreaming of a Lake District wedding, Merewood Country House is the perfect wedding venue to say, “I do”. With its spectacular views over Lake Windermere and the Lakeland fells, its luxurious interiors and exceptional food there could be no better venue for your wedding day. Merewood is big enough to feel grand, but still small enough to feel intimate and relaxed too.
Whether you want to get married in church and join us for your celebrations afterwards or would like to tie the knot in our elegant surroundings, we can accommodate your every need. Merewood is licenced to hold marriage and civil partnership ceremonies with four stylish ceremony rooms to exchange your vows in.
At Merewood, we have three romantic wedding packages, all of which offer you exclusive use of the entire house and twenty-acre estate. Or if you are a couple seeking a small intimate wedding for two, then the ‘Just Us’ package, is perfect for you.
Our beautiful location, exceptional food, coupled with outstanding service will ensure you, your family and guests leave with everlasting treasured memories.
To ensure your day goes without a hitch and you have the day you dreamed of, we have a team of experienced wedding co-ordinators who will be on hand every step of the way to provide inspiration and support, from planning through to the evening reception.

Nicola joined Merewood at the start of last year as Hotel Manager. With 23 years in the hospitality industry and 18 years of experience organising weddings, Nicola brings a wealth of expertise to every celebration.
In 2017, she was honoured to receive the Wedding Co-ordinator of the Year award for the entire UK from WeddingDates, competing amongst thousands. For her, this role is more than just a job; it’s about creating warm, welcoming experiences. Her natural ability to handle the biggest day

How many bedrooms do you have at the hotel?
Merewood has 20 beautifully appointed bedrooms and can sleep a maximum of 54 people.
For exclusive wedding packages, we ask you take all 20 bedrooms on the night of your wedding. If you wish to take exclusivity the night before your wedding, we ask you take at east 18 bedrooms.
What if the maximum capacity of a wedding at Merewood?
We can host 122 (including the happy couple) for indoor and outdoor ceremonies and wedding breakfast.
We can host 200 people in total for your evening celebrations.
Do you have a cake stand & knife we can use?
We have a range of cake stands for you to choose from at no additional cost, as well as our classic cake knife.
Do you cater for dietary requirements?
Of course! Many of our dishes can be adapted to cater for an extensive list of dietary requirements free of charge. We also offer a variety of Vegan & Vegetarian menu choices at no additional cost.
Do you have accessible parking?
Yes, we have accessible parking in front of our reception.
Are there any accessible bedrooms?
Please note that all of our bedrooms at Merewood are either on the first or second floor of the hotel and there are no ground floor bedrooms. We also do not have a lift as the house dates back to 1812 and is now a listed building.
Any wheelchair users can access the hotel, lounges, bar and dining room and we also have an accessible toilet on the ground floor so these guests are welcome as day guests to your wedding.
Do you have an EV charging facility?
Unfortunately, we do not have any Ev charging facilities at the hotel as of yet. However, as we are situated between both Windermere and Ambleside, there are plenty of places to charge your car in the area.
Do you host outdoor ceremonies?
Yes! We are happy to host outdoor ceremonies at no extra cost (weather dependant). We also provide outdoor seating free of charge for up to 120 guests.
Do you serve Breakfast?
Yes! All our room rates include breakfast.
Do you allow confetti?
We allow biodegradable confetti outside only to protect the wildlife in the grounds.
