Describe the best wedding that happened at Lusty Beg Island Resort?
Lusty Beg Island has seen some amazing weddings, but one sticks out in particular. The day started out with a Full Irish Breakfast being delivered to the Bride and Grooms Lodges. The Bride was staying in a lodge with her bridesmaids, and the groom in another lodge with his groomsmen. After Breakfast, the Bride and her wedding party moved over to our Salon Spa, where they all had their hair and makeup done. Once the Bride was ready, she walked out the back of the Spa where she was picked up by our Rib Boat. The bride was taken around the island, where all of her wedding guests and husband to be, were waiting on the lakeside Pavilion. The sound of Harp music filled the air and a big beautiful rainbow arched right behind the alter. The ceremony was lovely, and the weather co-operated which is a rare thing in Northern Ireland. After the prenuptials, the newly weds went off to take their photos on the island, and all their guests moved into the drinks reception. To end the evening off, the couples parents surprised everyone with a surprise Fire Works Show. It was truly amazing. The night quickly passed by with lots of dancing and laughter. It was a night the bride and groom will remember forever. On the following day, the couple had an after wedding bbq for any of their guests who stayed on the island. There was about 50 people at the bbq, but it was a quaint evening, where everyone was able to decompress, chat and share stories. Truly a lovely wedding. Every wedding we plan, we aim to match this one wedding which will always stick in our minds.
What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?
We always suggest that the happy couple refrain from organising the rooming list, as this can be quite stressful. We recommend that the Bride and Groom send out a Save the Date, and let any of their guests planning on attending book their own accommodation. This removes a large amount of stress from the newly weds, and ensures that they are not running around on their wedding day.
What’s your favourite personal touch you’ve seen at a wedding?
My favourite personal touch that I have experienced would have to be when one of our couples getting married, lost their father and brought in his Motorcycle. The bike was their Fathers most prized possession. The Bike was placed on display for everyone to see. This was a very emotional moment for the Groom, and afterwards, everyone was saying that having the motorcycle present made it feel like their father was there. This would have to be one of my most favourite moments at Lusty Beg Island.

We were lucky enough to hold the wedding for Annabel Scholey and Ciaran McMenamin.
Annabel Scholey is an English actress. She played Lauren Drake in the BBC supernatural drama Being Human and the leading role of 'Maddie' in the musical feature film Walking on Sunshine. Scholey played Contessina de Medici in the television series, Medici: Masters of Florence with Dustin Hoffman and Richard Madden.
