When we booked The Leverhulme we were extremely excited and absolutely loved the venue. It needed a lick of paint and some furniture repairs, but we were ensured this would happen. Then Covid meant that the venue closed for 18 months. Long story short - the week before the wedding we visited the venue and it was a complete tip - furniture from another hotel had been dumped there, including old fridge freezers. The main photo opportunity spot had been left to rot and there had been no decorative improvements done inside. (see photos attached)
We were promised this would be rectified. The night before the wedding we went to decorate - absolutely no change. Plus, there was a broken window, glass everywhere outside, broken table, wrong chairs, dirty table cloths. The list was endless. The owner of the hotel arrived and the first words were “why am I here? What’s YOUR issue?” He was disgusting. I’ve never met such a rude man. He was rude to me, my mum, my husband, and even took a phone call half way through talking to my chief bridesmaid. On the day of our wedding he didn’t acknowledge me, and the bar - he was using ALDI’s own coke and lemonade out of warm bottles, and was selling bottles of Budweiser out of a multipack for £5 a bottle. He ruined my wedding reception. And never once apologised.
I must say, my wedding ceremony was AMAZING and I cannot rate the venue - Church Farm, Wirral, highly enough. They were so kind and helpful. The view was amazing, there were chickens running around during the ceremony. It was perfect. And at the end of the day I got to marry my best friend, so we are trying not to let that rude man affect our memories of our wedding day.
