At Langlees House, we work with a maximum of 10 couples each year. Whether you envision a small gathering or a wedding for up to 250 guests, Langlees House allows you to craft your perfect day with complete flexibility.
We offer our couples full creative freedom to design their perfect outdoor wedding. Although we are a blank canvas venue, we work closely with a trusted list of suppliers for marquee hire, catering, power, restrooms, and other essential services, which we are happy to recommend and arrange.
Langlees offers three stunning lawn spaces, which can be configured to suit different sizes of party. The Croquet Lawn, with breathtaking views of the Southern Uplands, is perfect for pre-dinner drinks, or even a seated dinner for up to 200 guests in a marquee. The Upper Terrace, framed by a classic balustrade, is ideal for welcoming guests with drinks or hosting speeches, and also offers space for an additional marquee. Finally, the expansive Lower Lawn, enclosed by a graceful balustrade, provides a beautiful setting for a large marquee reception with dinner and dancing.
Upon request, we are able to arrange access to the property for the entire weekend, so that you can get maximum usage out of your marquee. We've arranged lovely rehearsal dinners and morning after brunches - just ask us.

We would love to welcome you to Langlees, where we take on a small number of couples each year. Feel free to reach out to us anytime to request availability, and do have a look at our website to see everything we can offer to make your day special. We can’t wait to hear from you!
Langlees House is located under an hour from both Edinburgh and Glasgow, just outside the pretty market town of Biggar in South Lanarkshire, Scotland.
Biggar is a historic market town located on the northern fringes of the Southern Uplands. Established as a burgh of barony in the 15th century, it still preserves much of its medieval charm, with its main street lined by centuries-old houses.
Describe the best wedding that happened at Langlees House?
One wedding that really stands out is one where the couple had to postpone three times due to COVID restrictions, so by the time their big day finally arrived, we felt like we knew them so well! They surprised their guests with an evening fireworks display timed perfectly just after sunset, and with the hills in the background, and it was absolutely stunning. After all the delays, it was such a magical moment!
What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?
We may be biased but consider staying locally for your minimoon: There are plenty of beautiful walks, gorgeous villages with cozy pubs, and impressive castles to explore. Peebles and the River Tweed are exceptionally pretty!
What’s your favourite personal touch you’ve seen at a wedding?
One of the coolest personal touches we've seen was when a couple had an artist painting the party as it happened! Guests could watch the painting unfold throughout the day, and by the end of the night, there was this incredible, one-of-a-kind painting ready for them to hang in their new home.
