For a wedding with an extraordinary sense of occasion, Hampton Court Palace provides a truly historic setting in Greater London. Set on the banks of the River Thames, this iconic royal palace combines centuries of history with magnificent architecture, beautiful gardens and a choice of elegant spaces for wedding ceremonies and celebrations.
A Hampton Court Palace wedding can be grand and spectacular or intimate and understated, with different spaces offering their own atmosphere and character. From the medieval grandeur of the Great Hall to the intimate surroundings of the Little Banqueting House, couples can choose a setting that reflects the style and scale of their day.
For couples dreaming of a wedding surrounded by royal history, the Palace itself offers some of the most impressive spaces available.
The Great Hall is an exceptional choice for a grand wedding celebration. Dating from the reign of Henry VIII, this magnificent medieval hall is renowned for its spectacular hammer-beam ceiling and richly decorated interior.
It can host up to 400 guests for a standing reception or 220 guests for a seated dinner, with dancing taking place in the Undercroft. Its dramatic scale makes it particularly suited to larger weddings and celebrations that call for a truly memorable setting.
The King’s Guard Chamber and Cartoon Gallery offer a more intimate way to experience the grandeur of Hampton Court Palace. Both spaces are rich in character and history, providing atmospheric settings for wedding celebrations.
With historic interiors and the Palace’s remarkable architecture surrounding the day, these rooms provide an elegant backdrop for a wedding reception and unforgettable photographs.
The Garden Room and Little Banqueting House offer a different experience from the grand interiors of the Palace, with versatile spaces suited to ceremonies, receptions and smaller wedding celebrations.
The Garden Room can accommodate up to 180 guests for a civil ceremony and reception, making it a popular choice for larger celebrations.
Its setting within the grounds of Hampton Court provides couples and their guests with the opportunity to enjoy the beauty of the surrounding gardens, while the Palace itself offers an extraordinary backdrop for wedding photographs.
For couples planning a more intimate wedding, the Little Banqueting House offers a charming historic setting. It can accommodate up to 50 guests for a civil ceremony, 80 guests for a reception and 50 guests for a seated lunch or dinner.
Its smaller capacity creates a more personal atmosphere, making it well suited to intimate weddings and celebrations with close family and friends.
Hampton Court Palace offers an exceptional variety of backdrops for wedding photography. Historic architecture, grand interiors, formal gardens and the River Thames all provide opportunities for distinctive photographs throughout the day.
From photographs beneath the Great Hall’s extraordinary ceiling to portraits among the Palace gardens, the setting gives couples plenty of ways to capture the character of their celebration.
Few wedding venues offer the combination of royal history, magnificent architecture and beautiful grounds found at Hampton Court Palace. With a choice of historic Palace rooms and more intimate spaces, it can provide the setting for everything from a lavish celebration to a smaller, more personal wedding.
For couples looking for a wedding venue with history, atmosphere and a remarkable sense of place, Hampton Court Palace offers an unforgettable setting for a day to remember.
Some of the best weddings we have had are not necessarily the most flamboyant but the ones that are personal to the couple and have really thought how to enjoy every part of their day. One couple decided to to have an extended drinks reception so they could talk to all of their guests, all their food was a fusion of flavour to reflect their mixed family and they partied away until late in the evening with a live band. These might not seem like extraordinary things but it was unique to them and the atmosphere was amazing.
It's so easy to get side tracked with photos and different moments, make time to soak up the atmosphere and enjoy the day.
A flash mob! The family organised a surprise dance for the couple, it was so personal and was such a fabulous way to start the evening!

Our staircases are gorgeous so provide a great backdrop all year round. If weather is fine our gardens are stunning and with the palace in the backdrop it's the most romantic setting.
We have had a few and many will remain anonymous as we know that it is a day many want to keep private whether they are in the public eye or not. However, one of our higher profile weddings was that of Katherine Jenkins and Andrew Levitas.

The most unique feature is the Great Hall. One of the last surviving hammerbeam roofs it was built for dining, entertaining and was also where Shakespeare performed.
Lots of people don't realise that we are a charity. Every wedding we have helps to preserve these beautiful buildings and their collections so that we can pass them on to future generations to enjoy and learn from.
