Friars Court occupies a unique niche as a venue dedicated exclusively to hosting wedding ceremonies. Enclosed by the surviving arms of a 16th-century moat and surrounded by three acres of sweeping lawns, mature trees, colourful borders, and intimate garden “rooms,” the Cotswold stone manor house has stood close to the River Thames for nearly 400 years.
A family home, the house is known for its pricavcy and wide variety of outdoor ceremony locations, offering couples the chance to celebrate in a truly tranquil and beautiful setting. Within the grounds, couples can choose from a number of spots, including the moat-side gazebo, beneath the shade of the cherry tree, or beneath the ever-popular rose arbour.
Friars Court welcomes civil, celebrant-led, and faith-based ceremonies for up to 60 guests.

Are you open all year round?
Friars Court is open for viewings all year round, but we only hosts ceremonies between May and September.
Can I come and view Friars Court?
Viewing is certainly the best way to get a true feel for whether Friars Court is the right venue for you, and we enjoy showing people around. Please note, as Friars Court is also a home, all viewings and meetings are by appointment only.
How many guests can we invite to our ceremony?
When licensing our garden ceremony locations, the registrars require that a suitably sized indoor space be available in case of inclement weather. Our largest indoor space, the Garden Room, can seat up to 60 guests. Because of this, 60 is also the maximum number of guests for any garden ceremony.
We really want a garden ceremony — but what if it rains?
In the event of uncertain weather, we can set up both the garden and indoor ceremony area, which gives complete flexibility on the day.
Do we have exclusive use?
Yes! Friars Court is a family home and you will have exclusive use of all the gardens during your time here.
Can we have our reception after the ceremony at Friars Court?
Sadly not. Friars Court is a private family home and only hosts the ceremony element of a wedding day. This gives couples the freedom and simplicity to get married here, to have photographs taken in beautiful surroundings, after which they depart to continue their celebrations elsewhere.

We've worked with loads of people over the years and are more than happy to pass on supplier details and you can contact them direct (recommendations are so much better than picking someone random).
