The Dumfries Arms Hotel is a contemporary, stylish boutique hotel that has a rich 300 year history behind it. Situated in the ancient burgh of Cumnock the hotel has played host to many colourful characters over the years. These include Scotland’s national bard, Robert Burns who spent many a night at the old hotel bar, entertaining the locals. Sir Walter Scott, the poet and novelist who frequented the hotel in times gone by was quoted to say ‘Old Cumnock, where the beds are as hard as planks, sir’. How times have changed. The old hotel has undergone a complete transformation and now boasts one of Ayrshire's largest and most stylish wedding venues along with 26 elegant bedrooms. We can accommodate both small intimate wedding as well as grand elaborate celebrations for up to 250 guests. From the first meeting to the big days itself, we have expert staff who will guide you through your arrangements to ensure that your special day is just the way that you want it. We pride ourselves on our flexible approach ensuring that your requests are met wherever possible.

The day had no issues at all and just ran so smoothly! The food was amazing and a the guests really enjoyed it. The foyer is light and airy and very well decorated. The large function room is amazing for each section of the day. They were so accommodating to with all our ideas and planning. We had a buffet meal instead of a traditional sit down wedding breakfast and it was amazing! Everyone has been complimenting us on the food! Emma, our wedding coordinator, is an angel sent from heaven! She is amazing! She made our day run smoothly! I can’t thank her enough! As well as it being such a stunning venue, the staff were just amazing! Especially in the last few weeks leading up to the wedding, Amanda made us feel so at ease🥰 the staff on the day were brilliant, and ensured that everyone had the best time. The food was highly complemented too! All of our guests had the best time! We had the most amazing wedding day at the Dumfries Arms. It was a total dream and went past way too quickly!! Everything just went so smoothly which is a credit to Amanda our wedding coordinator and the rest of the team. Nothing was too much for them and all our guest we so impressed with the staff and the hotel it self. We can't thank you enough for all your help in the lead up to the wedding allowing us to meet with our vendors (with not living in the area) to the communication to helping with all the little details on the day our dream day would not have been perfect without you all. Even when my dad had a fall you were all there making sure he was ok and I cant thank you enough for this❤️. Massive should out to the young girl serving the canapes who made sure i managed to get some of those delicious Haggis bonbons she kept me going through all those photos. It's definitely the little details like this from the staff throughout the hotel which made our day run smoothly and allowed us not to have to worry about anything.
