We are delighted that you are considering Doxford Hall & Spa for your forthcoming wedding celebrations. At Doxford Hall, we are dedicated to creating a day that’s tailored to your exact requirements, including all the little details that ensure your special day is as unique as you are. Built in 1818, this much-loved country house, the epitome of Georgian splendour, has been lovingly restored and includes a wealth of exquisite craftsmanship, including
fine wood panelling and a grand, handmade staircase: the perfect marriage of old and new. A sweeping driveway leads you up to the Hall through the ten acres of grounds. To the front are formal gardens beyond a sunny terrace, with classical stone features and wrought iron gateways giving rise to enchanting photo opportunities. Beyond, discover pathways with wild flower planting and ancient trees, leading to the yew tree maze and a secret walled garden, with espaliered trees. There’s an abundance of beautiful backdrops for your wedding photographs – and some quiet corners to enjoy time alone with your newlywed. Where better to begin your new life together than at Doxford Hall?
Our grand, yet welcoming, reception rooms are licensed for civil ceremonies, each offering their own unique features and sense of occasion. Choose from the spacious Kennedy Suite ballroom with crystal chandeliers and ornate Rococo mirrors; the oak-panelled Frank Henry Mason room; or the Flower Room with its neoclassical arched feature window, the perfect backdrop for an intimate wedding. There’s also the George Runciman suite, ideal for winter weddings with its deep red colour scheme and classical pillars; or lets go onto the outdoor terrace with breathtaking countryside views.

Will try my best to put it into words, sorry I ramble on with all of my feelings. From the start this has been more than just a venue. We fell in love with it last October when we came for afternoon tea, and picking this place to have our wedding day was the best decision I've made. For the whole year that we spent wedding planning, Doxford became a little haven and happy place for me, and it has been an honour getting to know all the staff on a personal level including my (new best friend) Angela the wedding planner, to the reception staff, waitressing and bar staff, and whole wider team. They could not have been more lovely or accommodating, it for one is so special to have a wedding venue where you can visit on the lead up, whether that is going for afternoon tea and showing my family when they are visiting, or going for a wander and cuppa, the staff every time without fail treat you with the upmost friendliness and have been nothing but welcoming. Angela has made the whole process of wedding planning so simple and I stressful, no email or question was a silly question (even though some of mine definitely were), and she was always there with a smile and turned into a true friend. She made this experience so magical and special and I could not ever thank her enough for that. She is one of a kind, and SO good at what she does. One stand out highlight of the wedding day for me, is when I was walking down the stairs with my Dad and bridesmaids, and at the bottom waiting for us was all of the staff: Angela, the receptionists, waitresses and waiters, and bar staff who I've got to know well and who's faces said a million words, it was honestly so special and brought a tear to my Dads eye, and it was just what I needed. Not every venue would offer that or be that personal, and I think that speaks a thousand words of what type of place it is. In addition, despite it being an amazing venue, it's incredible what you get for the price, and you can make the wedding to how you want it. I was shocked at the price when told as it's cheaper than most venues that I personally looked it, but as well as this with a choice of rooms to get married in to suit you, a WIDE amount of food to choose from (the food tasting was incredible) and also the choice, (but not the pressure where you have to fill rooms) for guests to stay there at a wedding price, with breakfast included the next day, which with a lot of people travelling down was ideal for us. We got a wedding package which made planning so much easier as we then just had to sort a handful of additional suppliers, making the organising stress free and enjoyable, something I did not expect wedding planning to be! The day itself ran so smooth and beyond anuthing I could have ever imagined, we literally just turned up with our stuff and they did the rest. The ceremony was gorgeous, the drinks reception and canapés were to die for, and the grounds for pictures are out of this world! Also although it is not an exclusive venue, it is so cosy and you feel like you have the whole place to ourselves, and it is so special we have the opportunity to return, whether that is to go to the spa, for an anniversary trip, lunch or afternoon tea. Sorry to you reading an essay (hope you got this far), but we truly hand on heart had the best and most magical wedding day, exceeding all our expectations. The staff and food were exceptional, all guests complimented the fantastic service. We felt very special and not just one of many weddings as you are at many venues. A very special thank you to the exceptional Angela and Glen who made nothing too much trouble. We also stayed for a few nights which extended a very special weekend. Just wonderful!! We knew as soon as we met your wedding coordinator, Angela, that it would be a smooth, well organised experience. Angela has been fantastic, a great communicator and extremely well organised. Her attention detail is second to none. She is able to sort out any problem and make useful suggestions. She allowed us to plan the day exactly how we wanted it. We were able to have a private dining experience the night before which was the perfect start to our wedding. Our wedding day went better than we could have ever hoped for. Everything we had asked for had been achieved and the staff could not have been more accommodating. Our wedding suite was fantastic too. Our guests had a great experience, the food was amazing and one of our biggest compliments from the day. The grounds looked exceptional and our wedding photographer was able to get some fantastic shots. We had the added bonus of being able to use the spa facilities during our stay too. We can’t recommend getting married at Doxford Hall enough. Thank you to Angela and all the staff. We were married on 2nd April 2023 at Doxford Hall and it was perfect from start to finish. The Hotel itself is a graceful Georgian stone-built mansion set in a secluded position in the North Northumberland countryside. It definitely has the power to impress - the dramatic staircase and grand ballroom are imposing sights - yet it manages to be cosy and welcoming as well. The hotel and its well-manicured gardens and grounds are very photogenic. The perfect spot for memorable photographs. I've been lucky enough to sample the food a few times, and the kitchens clearly have skilled chefs with an eye for presentation. Perhaps Doxford's greatest asset, however, is the staff. In all my dealings with management, the wedding team and other members of staff, I have found everyone to be extremely friendly, accommodating and helpful. I have no doubt they will work very hard, and go the extra mile, to ensure your wedding is spectacular and special in every way you want. In conclusion: I have been performing in top class hotels for over 30 years, and would definitely recommend Doxford Hall Hotel as a venue you must consider for your wedding!
