Cringletie House exceeded our wildest expectations

To say that our wedding at Cringletie House exceeded our wildest expectations is an understatement. We began our search for a destination wedding venue in Scotland about a year ago. How we ended up looking at Scottish venues as Californians is a bit of a tale. We had actually finished planning a ceremony and reception in the US Virgin Islands. Tragically, two Category 5 hurricanes struck the islands that summer, and our venue was damaged to the point where we had to cancel. When we began our search anew in Scotland, we must have sent inquiries to a dozen or more venues, who all provided a brochure with their pricing. Because we were planning a wedding from California on a modest budget, we naturally responded to these brochures with a litany of questions regarding whether the vision we had for our wedding was practical for the venue to accommodate. The quality and timeliness of the responses varied. To be fair to the venues, our list of questions was legitimately daunting; I work an office job myself, and if I got an email like the one we sent, I probably would have put it off as well. Johanna, who responded to our inquiry to Cringletie, provided a detailed answer to each and every question we asked. When we sent another email with follow-up questions, she again took the time to answer each and every one. Bear in mind – we had not committed to holding our wedding at Cringletie yet. So at this point, Johanna was essentially in the introductory stages of coordinating our wedding, without us having paid a deposit. It is also worth noting that Johanna’s responses were not only highly informative, but warm and courteous. Up to this point in our venue search, I hadn’t offered too many strong opinions to my fiancée. However, when I saw just how attentive, sincere, and detail-oriented Johanna was, I was instantly sold on holding our wedding at Cringletie. The venue is of course beautiful, and the prices were incredibly reasonable, but Johanna’s customer service stood above and beyond anything I had experienced since we began our search. Our faith in her was not misplaced. Johanna was instrumental in helping us plan our wedding. She responded to dozens of emails, recommended fantastic vendors, accommodated multiple changes to our plan, and despite having never met in person, treated us like old friends. The plan for our wedding included exclusive use of the grounds for the entire day, a night’s stay for all of our guests, ceremony coordination, a wedding reception, dinner, drinks, and breakfast the next day. Perhaps being an American consumer has made me cynical, but when I saw all of the things we were getting, at such a reasonable price, a part of me was waiting for the other shoe to drop. Maybe the grounds wouldn’t be as nice as the pictures? Maybe the rooms would be a bit dated? Maybe the food wouldn’t taste so great? I can’t believe I ever worried. The grounds were pristine. Beautiful spring blooms everywhere, with rolling hills, incredible backdrops, and scenic walking trails. The rooms were incredible. Well-appointed, impeccably clean, and sporting the most modern appliances, cozy beds, and lovely decorations. The food was fantastic. My wife (she was my fiancée earlier in this review…) and I sampled essentially the whole menu between the two of us, and every dish served was simply wonderful. As a side note, as residents of the Los Angeles metro, we have access to some pretty great restaurants in our day-to-day life. Not to sound snobby, but it can be hard to impress us with food. We weren’t just impressed – we were floored by how tasty everything was. Based on my experience with Johanna, I was confident that the service would be great. However, I was somehow still astonished at the level of service the staff provided throughout our stay. Beyond that, the coordination of our wedding day was flawless. Anyone who has planned a wedding knows that it can be a hectic day, but the staff at Cringletie handled every detail perfectly. My wife and I both agreed that it was the best day of our lives, and it wasn’t because of our perfect wedding plan. It was because the staff at Cringletie made it that way. This short novel I’ve written can’t even begin to convey how much we adore Cringletie House and everyone who works there. No matter what kind of event you’re trying to plan, I guarantee that you cannot do better.

We got married here on June the 28th

We got married here on June the 28th. We chose an intimate wedding for two. It was perfect. (Except for being way too hot for me at 31c ) The house is beautiful. Our room was luxurious. The food is bountiful. The landscape is tranquil. And the staff so attentive, nothing was too much trouble. We were made to feel very important from the moment we pulled up outside. Thank you to Jeremy, Liz, Louise and the rest of the team for making our wedding day and our two night stay something we’ll never forget. We’ll be back again one day to celebrate a future wedding anniversary... Ps. I hope Liz looked after and enjoyed my beautiful bouquet From the newly married Mr and Mrs Booton.
