If you’re dreaming of a green wedding, wedding by water or the best outdoor venue you can find, then you’ve come to the right place. Say your vows in a woodland glade surrounded by trees & birdsong or by the shimmering waters of our magical lake.
You might be drawn to a vision of a fairy glade; where you exchange your vows surrounded by nature before musicians on fiddle and flute play you past banks of foxglove and wild rose. Children clutching posies skip alongside as you walk hand in hand to a tented space filled with food and flowers. Later candles in paper lanterns and tiny lights shine softly across the music and dancing - long after little ones are tucked up in their tipis.

The team were outstanding and made everything so special and made us at ease as soon as we arrived. Everything they did, all the little details were so perfect. We riskily didn’t visit the location prior to our wedding day and to be truly honest, I’m glad we didn’t. Being left speechless by our marriage spot, which was the lake, added to the magic of the day. The staff were also really helpful with helping us with anything we needed. It is just beautiful and all of the staff so kind and helpful. The two years waiting for our big day (or small day, as there was only 14 of us!) flew by and the communication and advice from the Weddings team throughout was spot on. We had a truly wonderful and magical day, despite the rain, and the staff were so helpful when we changed our evening plans. May is such a special time at Cornish Tipis, with the luscious green trees and ferns and hot pink wild flowers. When viewing wedding venues Cornish Tipis was initially a wild card as we were set on getting married on the beach. However, after viewing Cornish Tipi Weddings with Kim we instantly fell in love with the venue and knew we couldn’t get married anywhere else- it was the perfect venue for a fairy tale, midsummers nights dream wedding in the woods crossed with a festival. It’s the perfect blend of working with experts who have clearly done so many weddings before, but the DIY nature of the venue means that you can really add your own touch to the decoration and the day can be completely what you want it to be. You’re in full control of the order of the events and how you want your wedding to be. It was really important to us that everything happened in one place for our wedding so that guests could turn up on Friday and not have to leave if they didn’t want to until the Sunday morning after the wedding. There was a yellow weather warning for rain for our wedding an it was still incredible! Kim liaised with with all of our suppliers to make sure they were fully informed and told us everything we had to bring for the venue- along with plenty of organisation tips and tricks. I can’t recommend this venue more highly to be honest! We both got ready on site, got married by the lake, had some reception drinks at the wedding pavilion then headed up the marquee for our food provided by Kerra's catering and a ceilidh by the Rosevilles who were brilliant. Couldn’t have imagined a more lovely day and the weather held out for us too!! The staff were INCREDIBLE - so so friendly, warm, lovely and welcoming. They were so organised on the day, and thought of every little detail. We had so many comments on how "chilled" we were as a couple - and we have to say, this is all because of the amazing staff on hand on the day. Everything went so smoothly, and if we ever had a last minute "Oh gosh, did we think of this??", you bet they were one step ahead! Everyone was super chilled out as well which suited the vibe of our wedding perfectly, nothing felt like a stress at all. The venue itself is super unique and just breathtakingly beautiful! We invited guests to join us at the onsite café for pizza and drinks the night before (something which we would definitely recommend) and enjoying a beer surrounded by loved ones as the sun set and the fairy lights turned was such a special way to start the weekend. On the day, peacocks and bunny rabbits roam the grounds (are you kidding, so cool!!), and the forest was such a luscious green. We chose to have our ceremony by the lake (again, would definitely recommend), and it was so special as a bride being able to enter the ceremony by boat with my parents. So many guests said that they had never seen anything like it before - and were unlikely to go to a wedding like this again. We also rowed away on the "Just Married" boat, which again just felt so special and made for the coolest photos! The rest of the day was just spectacular - we partied into the night, then a few of us stayed up toasting marshmallows and drinking wine by the fire pit before retiring to our tipis. We swam off our hangovers in the lake the next morning, along with a coffee and breakfast roll from the café There are just no words to describe this venue and all of its loveliness. It exceeded our expectations completely, and we just wish we could relive this day again and again! Let this be your sign to stop searching for venues - as you cannot possibly find a better one that Cornish Tipis! As the title to the review suggests, the location was absolutely stunning, the grounds are quite clearly maintained enough to stop it from being overrun, yet not so much that the area's natural beauty is inhibited. I know that we cannot control the weather, however for the date, you couldn't have asked for better. The sun kept us relaxed and the very slight breeze kept us all cool whilst we were out on the lake surrounded by further breathtaking views. The team over at Cornish Tipi are second to none, from the first initial meet and greet we felt both welcome and supported (which was a massive relief, since neither of us had been married before so didn't know what to expect...) Not one question was too obvious to answer and not a single request denied. Whilst the admin and wedding staff were amazing, there was one gent on the team that stood out to us all (guests included), his name is John, the amount of times that he ran up and down the entire venue to ensure we had anything and everything we needed or wanted, can not be counted on one two hands alone. (Needless to say, we had to force some cake onto him and the team there that day for being absolute superstars!) Nothing at all was too much trouble for him. The day as a whole was the best of our lives. If we went back in time, even with more options, I truly believe we'd still have chosen this one. We recommend this venue to anyone that wants to add a little peace and nature to their wedding, the team are more than happy to get stuck in with any ridiculous request, will help with decorating and moving things around and appear to be genuinely happy to be there with you. The price of the venue fair for what they offer, they also have access to their own catering team, photographers and florists should you wish to look at their list of "super suppliers", which helps to take the stress out of the preparation. Where’s the best photo spot at your venue?
Our lake is the jewel at the heart of the venue and the backdrop to some stunning photos. Whether you have romantic photos sat on the jetty, rowing around in our bridal boat or stood in the middle of the lake on the pontoon, for a really dramatic shot!
What’s your favourite midnight treat?
Our Favourte midnight treat would have to be the Camp fire! You can head back to your beautifull private tipi adorned with fairy lights and toast marshmellows or bubbles under a stary sky...
What is your venue's most unique feature?
There are lots of features that make our venue truely unique, our secret valley is 5 minutes from the wild Atlantic coast with a matchless backdrop of woodland and sky, shimmering lake water and magical Cornish earth.
What part of your business are you most proud of?
Once upon a time we started a tipi campsite - the first one in the UK - and then about 10 years later we were asked by a couple if they could get married here! A tipi wedding, woodland wedding, camping wedding, festival wedding - it could hardly be more perfect! The idea of you using our beautiful woods and glorious lake for your day of days was clearly spot on, and now nearly 10 years later, we're established as one of the UK's top outdoor wedding venues. Hurrah!
So what we didn't do was jump on a bandwagon; we were in at the off with outdoor weddings, and we're actually from here (farmers - too long to mention) & have grown our family business organically over the last 20 years (yes, sometimes slower than we'd have liked) into something to be proud of. This means when you get married here you are dealing with real people in a real place, and we'll respond to you personally in everything we do.
Having been the closest thing you can get to an outside wedding for all this time, we are thrilled to say you can now legally get married outside by the shimmering waters of the lake or in our woodland glade surrounded by ferns, bluebells and trees to the sound of the trickling stream and bird song.
