This beautiful Northamptonshire landmark has grown into one of the region’s most beloved wedding venues. Our stunning 17th-century Grade II* listed farmhouse overlooks the peaceful River Nene, offering a breathtaking and timeless setting for your special day.

We know every couple’s love story is unique, and your wedding should be too. At the heart of our estate is the charming 17th-century Threshing Barn. Carefully restored with historic Northampton sandstone and glowing fairy lights, it’s our most popular wedding space. The barn features a built-in bar and opens onto a quaint courtyard—ideal for alfresco celebrations with options like a pizza wagon or barbecue.

For larger gatherings, our Grand Marquee comfortably hosts up to 200 guests. It includes space for a dance floor and bar, plus direct access to the lovely Tennis Lawn, giving you plenty of room to celebrate with all your loved ones.

The Threshing Barn: Licensed for civil ceremonies, seating up to 115 guests. For evening receptions, it can accommodate up to 120 friends and family.
The Grand Marquee: Perfect for bigger celebrations, with room for up to 200 guests.
The Farmhouse Apartment: Located within our historic farmhouse, this two-bedroom self-catering apartment offers a cozy, private space for the bridal party to get ready and for newlyweds to enjoy their first night together. A one-night stay is included with your venue hire.
The Grounds: Spanning 85 acres, our estate provides a stunning natural backdrop for your wedding photos and outdoor moments.

Our perfect dayOur perfect day
Where do we start. A brief explanation to help you understand the story of our day, we have been together for 26yrs and have three children together. Late January of this year 2025 we decided to finally get married. We looked at a few places hoping to find some where that could accommodate what we wanted while bearing in mind all are parents and a lot of family are elderly because we left it so long (24 years engaged lol). We live in Irchester and have done most of our lives so we already known of Chester House Estate and had it down as an option. After our first meeting with Matt the Venue Officer we knew Chester House was the only venue where we could make our Perfect day happen and as early as August 2025. The Threshing barn with its 10,000 years of history is a beautiful building that we fell in love with and knew straight away would be perfect for our ceremony but would not have been big enough for the reception as we had more than 120 guests. We never wanted to use the marquee because it was not what we had in mind for our day. Matt kept the dream alive with an idea to put a canopy on the court yard directly outside the threshing barn giving us the indoor and sheltered outdoor space to accommodate our ideas, numbers and outside caterers. During the later stages of planning the wedding Matt took on a different role at Chester House but Paul took over. Honestly could not speak more highly of the staff at Chester House we named this review our perfect day and that’s because of this beautiful venue and apartment and its committed staff especially Paul. Paul you made it so easy for us and we will be forever grateful to everyone at Chester house for making it PERFECT. Where do we start. The perfect venue for the perfect dayThe perfect venue for the perfect day
Paul, Lisa & the staff at Chester house were amazing from start to finish. In the planning stages, Paul was great at keeping in touch with us, making sure he was on hand to help us or just be informed of what we were going for. Regular meetings, always being on the end of the phone & never being too busy for an email meant he took so much stress out of the process for us. On the big day itself & the setup day before Paul was of course not just present but also very hands on to give the help we needed. He was the first to greet us with a beaming smile after we arrived & there was never a task too big. Even going above & beyond to get extra perks in for us!! The bar staff were very friendly all throughout the day. The actual venue was brilliant - just what we wanted, the threshing barn was warm & welcoming on what turned out to be a drizzly November day! The apartment was absolutely spotless, giving plenty of space to get ready before or unwind after…or both! Every one of the guests were blown away with the day, all made possible by the delights of Chester House Estate! Overall we couldn’t have been happier with our dealings & experience with Chester house it truly was perfect!!Paul, Lisa & the staff at Chester house were amazing from start to finish. From the moment Paul stepped in he made our vision come to life and went above and beyond to make it better, he is such a calm and happy person which really helps when your nervous, as his organisation skills are amazing making the day run smoothly, so your able to take in every moment with no worries. The staff were lovely greeting guests with warmth, helping them with all their needs. The grounds there are beautiful which made our pictures come out better than we could have imagined, with all the different areas they have to offer. I would 100% recommend this venue to anyone looking for a perfect special day, where guests will talk about it for a long time to come. We can’t be more thankful for how our own day turned out. The best day of my life The best day of my life
We held our wedding reception at the chester house estate what an amazing place with fantastic staff who cannot do enough for you. The food was amazing too aswell as the amazing scenary for photos. All of our guests commented on how amazing the threshing barn is aswell as all of the chester house estate cannot fault the place and will highly recommend to family and friends. A massive shout out to Matthew and Paul from the start to the end of the wedding they couldnt do enough for us.
