Overlooking Kendal Castle and the Lakeland Fells, Castle Green in Kendal is a 4* Hotel and boasts an array of contemporary facilities, including ceremony and function spaces to accommodate 25 to 250 guests, in a truly breath-taking setting. Our original house dates back to 1847 and still contains some of the traditional features for those all-important photographs, as well as our Wedding Gazebo, Terrace & Lawn in the gardens for a truly romantic ceremony location.

The staff are truly amazing and the help the wedding planners (Hanna and Amanda) and wedding host (Chris) provide are overwhelming. The day was absolutely everything we had ever dreamed of the venue set up, food and support made it seamless and we are so grateful we had our special day where. I cannot recommend it more to anyone looking for a venue, it really is somewhere special We had our wedding here last month and even today we have had guests complimenting aspects of the venue. Hanna was absolutely brilliant with helping us plan the whole day and making sure everything was exactly how we wanted it. We had Anne as our wedding host on the day. It was her first solo wedding and she honestly could not have done a better job. All of our guests mentioned how amazing she was, she really made the day what she was we couldn't have asked for a better host!We had our wedding here on 14th September 2024. We met with Hanna and informed her of all our ideas. As this wasn't a traditional wedding but a vow renewal it was all about my ideas. Hanna was soooo communicative, I was able to call and email whenever I had questions or queries. Which was often. I honestly couldn't recommend Hanna and the castle green hotel enough! It was absolutely amazing, and I'm so glad I chose here to do our renewal.From the moment we started our journey with the castle green hotel it's been an absolute pleasure!!!! Everything ran smoothly on the day thanks to Chris and Hanna. People commented it was one of the best weddings they had been to. He runs a tight ship, getting everything sorted and keeping you updated on the day. We were really impressed. We won't forget our experience and want to come back for on our anniversary!Castle green was a fantastic venue. We could not fault our whole process the two years of planning was easy and stress free nothing was too much every detail was perfect. The staff at this hotel go above and beyond to make sure everything is right for you and your guests. Every wedding is the best wedding we've ever done as they are all so different! However, we really enjoy the one's where the couple have really personalised their wedding as it gives us an insight into their personality and their journey from their first date to their wedding date.
What is your No.1 wedding planning tip for couples?
To be organised, enjoy the wedding journey but most importantly have fun!
What’s your favourite personal touch you’ve seen at a wedding?
Personalised favours for guests - everyone had something completely different and it was obvious that the Bride & Groom had really thought about who was attending. The guests loved it!

Friendly, professional, beautiful, welcoming, memorable
Where’s the best photo spot at your venue?
Must be our Summer house in the Gardens. Stone built in around 1920 it provides a fantastic 'mantlepiece' shot.
Have you had any celebrity guest or wedding at your venue?
We had ex Newcastle goalkeeper Shay Given at a wedding in March 2018.
What’s your favourite canapé?
Cartmel Valley smoked salmon and horseradish cream
What’s your favourite midnight treat?
Anything chocolate!
What is your venue's most unique feature?
Our Gazebo in the grounds, fully licenced for ceremonies and great for an informal family ceremony
What part of your business are you most proud of?
Our staff who are professional yet fun and unstuffy with their service to give the feeling that this is the couples home for the day.
