Carnarvon Arms

This hotel is ideal if you are visiting Highclere Castle. It’s very clean and comfortable and extremely good value for money. The staff were very polite and friendly- overall a lovely place to stay.

Such a wonderful country pub. So happy we are local! We visit regularly and enjoy the excellent wine list. Staff are always very welcoming and friendly. Dog friendly and love sitting next to the fire!

Well where do I start! Everything about our experience from start to finish was amazing. We decided to add a hotel stay onto it and didn’t regret our decision. We were greeted at check in and shown to our room. Throughout our meal and stay we were served by Joshua, Jessica, Sophie, Claire and Becky. I would recommend to all!

I went for lunch with a friend yesterday. Everything was excellent - service, presentation, food. We sat outside in the sunshine and felt relaxed in the lovely setting. Highly recommend the Carnarvon Arms and we will return! Thank you.

My husband and I spent six, very enjoyable, nights at this hotel. On arrival we had a nice welcome from a staff member who assured us that we would be well looked after and we were. The room we had was within the main building, it had a very comfortable bed with nice crisp white bedding, there were large white fluffy towels and complimentary toiletries in the bathroom and we will have to mention the Nespresso machine for making that early morning coffee. Breakfast choice was excellent

We could not recommend this hotel highly enough. The staff were absolutely fantastic and could not do enough to make our stay worthwhile. The food that we had was delicious and the portion size was ample. The room we stayed in was lovely. Complimentary cakes, coffee machine and a drawer full of snacks. Very comfortable bed and exceptionally clean bathroom with soft towels. We chose this Hotel for its proximity to Highclere Castle.

Carnarvon Arms is a lovely setting near Newbury. It is an older establishment (300-400 years old) but well kept and again pretty! The staff is wonderful and did everything possible to make our stay and dinner a memorable experience.

From start to finish our stay here was amazing! We flew in from Denver and got to the hotel early, Charlotte was wonderful and did all the she could to make sure we were comfortable and got our room ready early and with a smile and kindness hard to find these days. Charlotte continued to be willing to do anything for us and the rest of the staff was incredibly kind. The property is charming and so wonderfully decorated and creates a feeling like you are home, the food and drinks were delicious.

Nipped in here as we were staying locally. The decor is really nice, and the staff are very friendly. The food selection is good too. The outdoor area has a really interesting layout with lots of covered 'pods' which I imagine is excellent in the summer for al fresco dining and drinking. Well worth a visit if you're in the area.

A beautiful Inn that oozes charm and cosiness! Separate dining area for meeting friend's for coffee and chat or a great indoor our outdoor dining experience . Old World Charm, with warmth from log burners, little alcoves, large Inn, great food, friendly attentive staff. Just off A34 so great for a relaxing stop-off in your journey. Car parking, child friendly, dogs welcome.
