When we got married at Bromwich Park in August 2014, the idea of hosting weddings for other couples on the farm was the last thing on our minds !
We had moved up from London a couple of years earlier, when Julian took over the running of the farm that has been in his family for 100 years, and had hosted a couple of small parties to lure our friends to visit us in our new life in the countryside, to meet some of the locals, and to make the most of the unused farm buildings.
We decided to get married, after 13 years together, while we were still in the middle of a lot of building renovation on the farm, but realised that if we waited for everything to be finished it might never happen !
So we organised a full on wedding festival with 350 guests, a massive ‘bring a dish’ buffet, 2 bands, street theatre performances, an all night disco and a Landrover and a vintage tractor as our wedding cars !
It went so well that friends started asking if they, or their friends, could get married here, so we had a couple of weddings the following year and realised this was a very good use of the farm and of our skills, with Julian’s background in Restaurant Management and Waiting at private events, and my experience in hosting Parties and Club nights , and decorating and hosting spaces at Festivals.
After practicing on a couple more friend’s weddings the following year, we decided to only host 12 weddings each summer so that we wouldn’t interfere with the farming in the area, and so we would keep enjoying it, and we have been fully booked since we opened to the public in 2016.
We have continued to improve and add to the venue every year and love using our ever growing experience to help all our guests to put on quirky, relaxed, personal, wild, friendly, magical, [delete as appropriate !] parties to celebrate their special day.
