Description

Hosting your wedding in a fabulous country house doesn’t get much better than at Brinsop. Rules are few and far here at Brinsop – everyone knows, I like to say ‘YES!’ - because we understand each couple wants something different and we embrace those differences…and really help you achieve those special touches, offering an almost endless list of places for you to make your vows – moatside, down under the huge Cedar with the double swing, up in our London Plane woodland glade, banqueting Hall, Library, Astley Pavilion …the list goes on.. With 15 Large double bedrooms and 3 singles – not forgetting our 2 magical and idyllic cottages nearby – we can sleep 33, and up to 47with extra beds. We have function rooms that will take your breath away – truly – people have been brought to tears on seeing our candlelit Banqueting Hall ! – and each of them is so special. Your guests will be awed by this beautiful property, thoughtfully and decorated in a contemporary way with not a hint of old house crustiness! Time after time, people leave saying it was the best wedding experience they had ever had. And it’s exclusively yours for your stay…and that can be for as long as you want.. Your amazing day will go smoothly in the hands of our accomplished co-ordinators, with a senior event manager on hand - after being arranged in the preceding months with the same person who sees you through your day. We think our clients like continuity. Maybe you would like to arrive the evening before and enjoy hosting your nearest and dearest in the Queen Anne Dining Room, use the Games Room getting to know a little better some of those family members you rarely see, while the bar is open for your own convenience, or lie back and relax in front of the woodburner in our superb Parlour. Alternatively, in summer months you can get out and play croquet , badminton, cricket, football, tennis, fish in the moat or just lounge in our hot tubs while chatting to and having FUN with those you love so well

FAQs
Find out a bit more from our FAQs

Describe the best wedding that happened at your venue?

All of them are incredible weddings, it would be impossible to pick just one! Brinsop is such a magical place that it makes every single day here special. We love working in the surroundings of such a picturesque location, all our visitors appreciate it just the same :)

What is your No.1 wedding planning tip for couples?

Decide on your venue and everything else will follow... We really help you with your planning and are with you every step of the way! Our team is so knowledgeable - we are here to help!

What’s your favourite personal touch you’ve seen at a wedding?

Gosh, this one is so hard. We have seen so many personal touches, our couples can be so thoughtful. We have had tables named after travel destinations, Harry Potter cakes, sheep as ring bearers - you name it!

Describe your venue in 5 adjectives.

Charming. Idyllic. Magical. Unforgettable. Romantic (struggled to pick just 5)!

Where’s the best photo spot at your venue?

This is a question many would answer differently. There are so many spots that it's truly hard to pick a favorite. Maybe in front of the pear trees, looking across the moat towards the ancient stone bridge, in the woodlands, our exceptional bridge over our glistening moat. With Brinsop being Grade II listed in its own right, it can be captured with a backdrop of either the cricket pitch and the rolling hills of Hereford or the mixed era façade of our exceptionally unique house.

Have you had any celebrity guest or wedding at your venue?

Many! But we wouldn't dare say - ask if you come for a viewing! :)

What’s your favourite canapé?

The Yorkshire pudding canapes with local Herefordshire beef and horseradish is always a winner! Some couples pick slightly different alternatives to your typical canape, such as candy floss or popcorn - good if you are running a movie theme!

What’s your favourite midnight treat?

It has to be a charcuterie and cheese board with ALL the trimmings! Local produced cheese with a selection or breads and crackers accompanied with countless chutneys and spreads for every palate. The bonus is how beautifully it can be presented! Or a hamper full of cookies and hot chocolate - yes please!

What is your venue's most unique feature?

The venues hosts so many! A popular one is our beautiful Courtyard, complete with medieval steps - the perfect location for a sheltered outdoor ceremony or drinks reception!

What part of your business are you most proud of?

There is no one single part of my business that I am most proud of … Brinsop as you see it today is an absolute mix of fascination with the old place, joy to see the life being breathed into it and masses of plain hard slog which has resulted in this amazing place…

So - I am proud of the market stall I started at weekends - while teaching during the week - which led to the 2 shops we opened - while I had 4 children - which then led onto the Mail order business we got lucky with - which led to me being able to buy Brinsop Court.

I am proud of my husband and 4 fabulous daughters - who have seen so little of me for the last 12 years while I toiled at Brinsop.

I am so proud of creating this incredibly special haven of English peace that people really love.

I am proud of my staff – old and new – who give their very best every time to each visiting couple and group who come here.

I feel incredibly proud when I realise that people I have never met before now recognise the name Brinsop…
