This charming country house is set in seven acres of beautiful secluded gardens and woodland and sits on the eastern bank of Lake Windermere. Recently renovated and modernised throughout, Briery Wood has moved from a traditional design to a more contemporary styled hotel.
Licenced to hold marriage and civil partnership ceremonies, you can exchange your vows in our stylish ceremony room or if the weather is kind, in our beautiful garden gazebo. Or if you choose to get married in church, you can join us after the ceremony.
We have three all-inclusive wedding packages for you to choose from, all of which offer you and your guests exclusive use of the hotel and grounds for your special day. Alternatively, if you’re searching for that perfect, intimate wedding, our “Just Us” package allow the happy couple to enjoy the day alone together.

We were waited on every second of our stay, and the level of service was wonderful. We had the Two Of Us wedding package. It was perfection. We were allowed to have our dogs present and the bedroom was great for our needs, both for us and the dogs. We had the most amazing wedding at Brierywood. The venue is stunning and all of the staff went above and beyond helping us with anything we asked for. Sarah in particular (wedding coordinator) was incredible and she’s a credit to the venue! If you’re looking for a beautiful homely venue for your wedding in the Lake District, this is the place :) Myself and now husband had our beautiful wedding at this location and it was the most wonderful day! It was the most wonderful, perfect experience made even more amazing by the wonderful staff who not only were our witnesses but also went above and beyond to make our day special. Our evening meal was outstanding and we will definitely be back for a meal again. Would recommend anyone marrying/staying at this wonderful hotel but have to say the staff make it memorable as they are so lovely.My husband & I married at Briery Wood on the 19th December with the Just Us package. I remember at the beginning of 2018 when we first visited the hotel looking at venues, the second we stepped inside Briery we knew it was where we were going to celebrate the most important day of our lives. The main thing that stood out then and still does now is every member of staff who works there. You are all so friendly and go out of your way to help and make guests feel at home. Special mention to Tracey & Dan who were fantastic on the day and were on hand throughout to ensure everything went smoothly. All my guests commented on how nice the hotel was, how amazing the food was and how nice the staff were. You really did make the day so perfect so thank you so much.
