Description
After Blencowe Hall became authorised as a civil wedding venue, we have started offering wedding breaks at Blencowe Hall but do not advertise this on a wide basis and we do not have a standard brochure, nor are we really sure that we would like to have such a thing, as we do not see ourselves as offering a set of standard wedding packages. We do not anticipate becoming a major commercial wedding venue preferring instead to remain more personal and smaller scale in terms of numbers of weddings. We offer wedding weekends with a minimum of a three night stay at our properties and do not offer single night bookings.
Blencowe Hall has 12 bedrooms and 11 bathrooms (two rooms share a family bathroom on the Central Range hall) which means it accommodates up to 24 guests. It might be useful to know that at Blencowe Hall there are two ground floor bedrooms in the North Tower, one of which has a walk in wet room shower which we have found is really helpful for our guests with limited mobility or young children. The South Tower Dining Room, the Breakfasting Kitchen, Utility Room, Butler's Pantry, Snug, oak panelled Entrance Hall and the Billiards Room are all on the ground floor. Our bedrooms are also set out in pairs in the North Tower and Central Range so that parents travelling with young children may easily have them in a room nearby.
Blencowe Hall is Grade I listed and the restoration programme has brought the two derelict castellated towers back into use for the first time in 300 years. Our website includes floor plans etc and three of the twin bedded rooms can either be configured as twins or as 5 or 6 foot beds depending on your preference. Blencowe Hall is 5* rated by Quality in Tourism, part of Visit England, and has also won a Gold Award for exceptional quality in all areas, in particular with respect to service and hospitality. We also participate in their affinity programmes and Blencowe Hall has been certified as a "Families/Pets Welcome".

The hall had everything we needed and the grounds were the perfect setting for our wedding ceremony. Christine and Joanna were amazing from booking to the big day, always on hand if we needed anything. Our families loved the weekend in the castle and we’ll never forget our stay there. All the recommended suppliers that we used were fabulous - its certainly worth using the ones on the list supplied! We were lucky enough to be able to get married outside in the gardens, with a brass band present and a wonderful reception & wedding party for 50 people in the Byre. If anyone is looking for a perfect wedding venue - look no further. It couldn't have been better and will not only be memorable to us - but also to all our guests - who all loved it too - many saying it was the best wedding they had ever been to! We enjoyed a wonderful wedding weekend at Blencowe Hall - it was a perfect venue and the team that helped with the recommendations of suppliers and preparation could not have been more helpful. All the recommended suppliers that we used were fabulous - its certainly worth using the ones on the list supplied! From the start, communication and planning with Joanna and Christine was fantastic, they always responded to emails and gave so much information, it really helped with planning from afar. Our two visits to view the venue beforehand really settled our nerves and again, Joanne helped us along with hints and tips as well as supporting us with our own ideas. On the weekend of the wedding we arrived to a clean and tidy house, with everything we needed for all our friends and family. The kitchen is well stocked with enough things for hundreds of people, let only the 30 of us! We got married in the Solar Room upstairs, with all our guests seated comfortable and with enough space for me to walk down the aisle with my dad. We used an Amp for just which worked great in the room. We also then used the same room for the party after dinner, again, plenty of room for dancing and also chatting. The fire places were well used Sunday for toasted marshmallows and chats with friends. All the bedrooms are really comfy, all our guests said how great they slept and how comfy the mattresses were. All but 2 bedrooms are en suite but still have a private bathroom down the hall. This worked well for us as a group of 3 friends were able to share. We used the South Tower main bedroom, top floor, as our wedding suite. There was plenty of room for me and my bridesmaids in the morning, along with both mums and hair and makeup being done. There is also a separate dressing room were I was able to put my dress on in private. The balcony and windows gave for some stunning views! If we could do it all again, we would pick this venue over and over again! We really can't recommend it enough and are already planning when we can next get family together to book the main house again! As it is a self catered accommodation, your wedding can be exactly as you want, without any restrictions on which caterers/florists/hair dressers you use. You can get married in multiple locations, both inside and outside. The byre is perfect for the wedding breakfast and evening entertainment. Blencowe Hall's dining room and solor room are also brilliant for the wedding breakfast and evening entertainment for a smaller number of people. The Rowley Estate staff are lovely, kind and helpful. They respond very quickly to emails and phone calls and give fantastic advice and help. The house and cottages are beautiful accommodation, giving your wedding a lovely holiday feel for you and all your guests. Blencowe Hall and surrounding cottages are a fantastic location for a wedding for about 50 people. The building is absolutely stunning, mixing modern amenities with the grandeur of a centuries old building, and the location is perfect on the doorstep of the lakes, you can see the rolling countryside for miles with snow capped mountains in the distance. Gillian was exceptionally helpful in organising our day and planning our ceremony, nothing was too much trouble for her. The catering for the wedding was fulfilled by Lynn Hilditch and was absolutely exceptional, the dining room would go completely quiet with each course served. The whole wedding party was in agreement that it was some of the best food they had ever eaten, especially the pork which had been cooking since 4 am! I couldn't recommend Lynn highly enough, she really helped make the weekend and was very personable to match. We then hired a tipi for the reception which was placed in the field behind the cottages, keeping everything close by.
