Bartons Mill is a unique late 17th century mill formerly known as Old Basing Mill set in the beautiful surroundings of the Hampshire countryside. Just a short distance from Basingstoke town center, Old Basing is a charming village steeped in history. Situated on the River Loddon, Bartons Mill is home to unique wildlife and with a tranquil riverside setting.
Our historic building was last working in 1965 and remained a private residence until 1979 when it opened its doors as a restaurant. Renovated to seamlessly merge The Barton’s Mill restaurant and The Millstone Pub to create Barton’s Mill, this site lovingly retains the characterful features of its historical past.
Your wedding will take place in our timber-framed venue of our historic building with exposed wood beans and beautifully lit areas that bring a rustic touch to your day.
Your guests will enter through your own private entrance, passing by the weir into the Stone Mill, with its own bar, patio, and large garden surrounded by water and nature full of various backdrops for magical memories.
With a memorable location, we are a versatile venue that can offer a range of rooms that accommodate between 8 to 160 guests for the ceremony and/or wedding reception exclusively yours for the day.
Barton’s Mill is licensed to host civil ceremonies from very Intimate occasions to large celebrations.

Abbie coordinated the day, and it all ran so smoothly. The food was fantastic, the rooms were lovely and the whole team were so helpful and accommodating. We would love to do it all over again. Thanks to all the team that made our day so special.We recently had our wedding at Bartons Mill, and we cannot recommend it enough. Flo was fantastic and helped us through the planning. We knew the venue already and always thought it would be a lovely venue - and when it came to deciding on a venue when we got engaged, we actually only looked at one other place as we knew it was perfect for us. The team took SUCH good care of us, and Flo (their events manager) spent so much time helping us and getting to know us. They were happy for us to have our ceremony downstairs, even though it hadn't been done before, and we felt as though we were in very safe hands. It's a beautiful venue, with beams, a watermill, fairy lights, an incredible fireplace downstairs, and is situated by a pretty stream. A perfect place for a cosy, chilled, pub wedding!We had the best day at Bartons Mill. The venue is beautiful, Flo the wedding coordinator is soo helpful and it is so reasonably priced! The day went without any hiccups and everyone said how incredible it was. The inside is lit with fairy lights downstairs and there is plenty of space for the band and dancefloor, with a private bar. The outside is covered by a perminant marquee and there is a large grass lawn all of this is private. You can get married inside or outside. The nearby chalk stream flows around the private garden. It is so private that you would never even notice that there is another section with a bar for the public. Would 100% recommend it. We just had our wedding at Barton's Mill and it was amazing. The venue is beautiful, Flo the wedding coordinator is soo helpful and it is so reasonably priced! The day went without any hiccups and everyone said how incredible it was. It felt like the venue was just ours ad you have a private bit of the pub and we never saw any members of the public. We were extremely happy with how our wedding went and got many compliments from people saying it was the best wedding they had attended. From the moment we arrived to going to bed at the accommodation on site everything was perfect. The wedding meal was absolutely fantastic and so delicious as was the barbecue in the evening. The staff were wonderful and very accommodating and keeping everyone informed from when photos were due to take place to the bride and groom’s first dance so you never missed out on anything. The accommodation was absolutely gorgeous beautifully decorated and cleaned to a high standard, in the morning after the wedding we enjoyed a delicious breakfast and it was great to see family and friends all chatting about how wonderful the wedding was. I truly would recommend to anyone thinking of getting married at Barton’s Mill to book it, it’s just the perfect place.Barton’s Mill was the perfect place for our daughters wedding.
