I run Lotus Photography UK and I photographed a wedding at the Subtropical Gardens in April 2019 and they were amazing.
The grounds are stunning and the marquee they have for weddings is beautiful and surprisingly spacious. Those are givens, but it was the staff that one me over.
On the day, the weather decided it was going to be a bit of everything. Blazing sun during the ceremony then a mix of sunshine, rain, hail, and strong winds, very April weather. The winds got so strong, that although we didn't really notice anything in the area we were, a tree was blown down else where in the gardens. The staff pulled me aside quietly and rather than worry the couple, asked if I could do the group shots in an area that they knew was safe and out of the wind, they had closed the gardens to the public because of the winds. They even came up with a plan that when the winds died down, that they would come find me and tell me what areas were safe so we could do the couple's photos without any concerns. It was handled so sweetly and with such consideration as to not worry the couple, I don't think they even realised the gardens had been closed.
A lovely venue, run by a wonderful team.
