All my couples big days are memorable. One that really stands out has to be my very first wedding invite commission with the gorgeous Abi & Rob. They wanted to be portrayed as these amazingly colourful chameleons and chose my Little Bespoke Book option. These guys just understood what Frog & Pencil stands for and it really gave me validity in the industry. I still adore that invite and illustration to this day, the colours are just delicious!
Colourful, Playful, Personal, Relaxed, Unique
I'm genuinely proud of the relationships I build with my couples. I love my couples and am delighted to be a part of their wedding journey. It makes my heart happy when they tell me that the stationery became their favourite part of the build up. You just can't beat that wonderful feeling.
Be unashamedly yourselves. It's your day, about your love, so let your personalities shine and be celebrated.
Anything that injects personality and shows who the couple are. I love it when they include their love story into an invitation, where it all began and how it evolved is just gorgeous.
I love to meet my couples if they're local (or we can video chat) over coffee and cake to look at examples and to just chat about their day and what they need.
Once we've got a solid idea of what they want I sketch designs. We then talk about potential tweaks before a final sketch is made. Then I paint the main illustration. From this design, I can digitally create the invitation. There are plenty of stages through our relationship where my couples can see where we're at, make changes and colour/font decision. They're always a huge part of the process, it has to be right for them.
Then we send the final design for a proof print. If everyone signs off, then we go ahead with the final print run - I use a local professional printer for all my work. I then lovingly package up the designs, with your original watercolour artwork and post it.
The process takes around 8 to 10 weeks, depending on my work load.
It's got to be the Invitation. This is the first taste of your wedding day that family and friends receive, so why not make it a cracker and knock their socks off. Get them excited for the big day!
My bespoke concertina fold style invitation by far. It's a fantastic option for those who want to share extra information with their guests. The pages can include the invite itself, little important details, accommodation, a wedding map, rsvp pull out and info about gifts, for example. It's hugely popular and being one piece, you don't lose anything.
I love being able to hand over my stationery in person! Over the months your build a lovely relationship with your couple so it's nice to be there to lovingly and safely deliver their invites. And to see their reactions means the world.
Everyone views romance differently, that's why I want my designs to express who a couple are. It's about them, about their love, about their relationship and their commitment to one another. How that looks is down to them. If it's a portrait with their pet or they want to be portrayed as creatures, like my Chameleons, then I'm here for that.
