WELSH GOLD. We have been specialists since 1985 in Welsh gold from the Gwynfynydd gold mine, not far from our shop and workshop. We were appointed in 1985 by the Crown Agents as one of the only three Welsh jewellers licenced to work with this precious metal. All our Welsh gold jewellery is made individually by hand by Kelvin Jenkins in our own workshop in Machynlleth, Powys. We offer rings and other items containing a very accurately measured proportion of Welsh gold combined with "world gold". We can also combine our Welsh gold with guaranteed recycled or "ecogold" as an environmentally friendly option, and are at present looking into working with Fair Trade gold.
In our standard range 5% of the gold is Welsh gold, but we also offer jewellery containing 10%, 15% or 20% to commission. Very occasionally we accept commissions in pure unmixed Welsh gold, but be warned - Welsh gold is now very rare and expensive, and has become even more so since the last gold mine finally closed. Our work is available in 9ct or 18ct gold, yellow, white or red.
Over the years we have provided engagement and wedding rings to couples all over the world. We have many beautiful thank-you letters from past clients, which we will be adding to this website as time allows.
Please don't hesitate to contact us if you wish to learn more about our jewellery, or about Welsh gold in general. We love our work and are always happy to talk about it. We are not a big manufacturer; we are a husband and wife team who pride ourselves in offering a very personal service to our customers, both in our shop and via our website.
