After the appalling way in which we were treated by the owner Lesley, when we went into the shop to make the final payment and collect of our engagement ring, we will not be purchasing our platinum wedding rings from here nor would we recommend the shop to anyone. We are still waiting on the valuation paperwork and everything else that goes with purchasing a platinum and diamond ring 8 months later. Has created doubts in our minds if it is even genuine.

We first met John McKay jewellers at the Scottish Weddin Show and loved their selection of rings. The service, quality of rings and selection far surpassed the other jewellers we visited. We both found exactly the type of rings we were looking for and have found our new go-to jewellers at the same time!

Mckays has been the only jewellers that my family have used for many many years. In fact I got my ears pierced in the shop when I was a little girl. So when it came time to pick my engagement and wedding rings there was no other place I would go. On my first consultation I sat down with Lesley to design my rings. They were custom made especially for me. Lesley designed a beautiful cluster set and also my husbands wedding band. The customer service you experience from start to finish and every time you go in the shop is second to none. The team in there are all lovely and make you feel special and welcome. Even when I was planning my wedding and would see them at wedding fayres they always remembered me and chatted away. It was a really quick turnaround in sending over the ring designs and was delighted with the finished job. Every where I go people compliment me on my rings and they are as sparkly as the day I bought them. I have even sat down with Lesley since to get an enternity ring added on. Again the experience was a pleasure. I would only ever recommend John Mckays jewellers if you want first class service.

Once we found Lesley and her staff there was only going to be one place to purchase our rings. The service from Lesley at the consultation to the day we picked the rings up was second to none. From advice on styles and sizing to the last minute adjustments, the service was fantastic. Very high quality jewellery and r choice of rings have often be commented on by friends and family. We purchased all our wedding party gifts from John McKay too, such as Hip Flasks and Bridesmaid presents, again the service and advice was beyond what you may class as standard customer service. 1 , It was Kenny that decided to design the engagement ring, I had shown him several Images and persistently dropped hints of what I liked but wanted larger Diamonds on either side of the centre Diamond, I had no idea he had actually paid attention to what I was saying so it was a total surprise. He spoke to my mother and she recommended him to go see Lesley at John McKay Jewellers in Paisley as she had made my mums wedding ring and engagement ring 12 years previously. 2. As Kenny had chosen all the tiny details of my ring, the stone size, colour and clarity all of which I loved, we got Lesley to make the wedding ring an identical match which was very straight forward we left the ring with John McKay Jeweller for 4 days they scanned it took all the details from it as well as clean it as new, they then sent me an email with a computerised image of the wedding ring on its own as well as sitting next to my wedding ring. I will attach the images. 3. I think having the ability to design your own ring opens the door up for women to have your dream ring I seen 100’s of rings that look very similar to my own but with far smaller diamonds on the shoulder’s or set in claws I am quite meticulous about the finer detail and know what I like and don’t like, I would have eventual settled for something close to what I wanted If Kenny had not had it made, it was an amazing surprise but even more so the fact every little detail was 100 % perfect. 4. The process was very simply and quick with the wedding ring as it was based on the engagement ring and was completed within 3 weeks from the initial appointment, the engagement ring took just over 4 weeks as there had to be an alteration to the first design as Lesley at John McKay thought the setting was to vulnerable being so high with the shoulder joining to low and as I work in an office with filling cabinets she advised Kenny to lower the centre stone and have the shank joining the setting half way up to avoid it getting damaged. The appointment was also very quick as the girls at John McKay had no problem understanding what we wanted, Kenny’s ring was also made to is specification as he is a fussy as I am, he had seen an image on line of a ring he liked which they asked him to email to them turned out they had a ring very similar, they then took a box of blank wedding rings in all different widths and weights and shapes and from that Kenny picked which shape he wanted it and how wide he wanted the ring and 3 weeks later it was completed. 5. We would highly recommend having wedding rings designed , made to your specification it makes the ring even more special knowing you have had it made specially for you as well as being able to get every single detail exactly as well as being enjoyable, we also discovered having our rings made was actually less expensive than buying them over the counter the ring Kenny had seen on line was £400.00 more expensive and he saved £3,000.00 buying the diamond and having the ring made. We got a discount on both wedding rings as we had got the engagement ring from them, we also get free cleaning and polishing and valuation’s for life all of which we wouldn’t have got on the high street. Have just picked up our wedding rings up and they are gorgeous. Mines had to be custom made to fit my engagement ring and its just perfect. Service was first class from start to finish and the wee bottle of prosecco was greatfuly received. Would highly recommend!

Andrew - Great advice for any guy who is not sure where to start. A real interest in fiancés taste and recommended 3 stunning rings before settling on the one Lesley thought would best suit my fiancés taste based on what I had told her. I was just delighted it wasn’t the most expensive out them all 😊 Vhari - when coming to pick my wedding ring I had an idea in my head of what I wanted. Lesley was very quick to advise she didn’t think that style would suit and showed me other rings in comparison. Great experience and real knowledge and ended up going with Lesley’s choice. Was treated to a glass of champagne in the shop to celebrate and even got to leave with the bottle to help make the day even more special. Thanks for all your help, expert advice and great knowledge!
