What is your most memorable wedding?
Obviously my own wedding! I couldn't forget that! I designed all the wedding jewellery, including personalised cufflinks for the groom and his ushers, the wedding rings, hand engraved by my personal engraver & great friend, which made it really personal. I wore my Calla Lily Pearl Studs and designed a truly bespoke Calla Lily Pearl Corsage bracelet to go with my Jenny Packham dress. And my gorgeous Calla Lily engagement ring, made from platinum using a unique marquise cut diamond. As you can tell I'm a little obsessed with Calla Lilies but they're my favourite flower, a classic beauty!
Describe your style in 5 adjectives.
elegant - timeless - sculptural - classic - independant
What about your business are you most proud of?
I've set my jewellery business up in 2008 and have gone from strength to strength every year - I'm most proud of working with my clients to produce unique pieces. This feeds my creativity!
What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?
Enjoy planning your wedding together and delegate jobs that you know you can't do to professionals or friends who have the skills! I sourced and made all the flowers for my wedding, including the church, buttonholes, bouquets, table decorations etc.- it was a mammoth task and wished I paid a florist.
What is your favourite personal touch you have seen at a wedding?
I love a photo booth! Its fun and engaging and you'll have photos of the day for both guests and bride and groom to keep forever.
Describe your typical process with a couple.
It all begins with an enquiry to see what the couple are after. After an initial consultation a quote is produced with options as discussed. When the options are chosen then a sample is produced to physically see the dimensions and scale are working and fitting right. The next stages include the making and this process depends on the complexity of design. I always advise clients that bespoke commissions take 4-8 weeks
What are your favourite wedding traditions for rings?
I love getting the rings hand engraved, even if it's the date, as this really personalises them. Get inspiration from quotes, poems, motifs etc.
What is the most romantic engraving you have seen on a wedding ring?
I recently created bespoke palladium wedding rings for a couple that wanted a specially designed motif of an Ankh and Heart inside their wedding bands. We came up with the idea to split the design, half and half on the inside of each ring so when you hold them next to one another they complete the design - the couple will share that forever!
Which ring do you think holds most significance for a bride?
Both the engagement ring and the wedding ring - the engagement represents the beginning of the journey of commitment and the wedding ring cements the commitment.
What is your favourite proposal story?
I have designed and made many bespoke rings for guys who like to make a surprise proposal - I find this so valiant as the fiancée loves the fact that they've made a special effort to get this designed and made just for them without them knowing - a bit like 'Don't tell the bride' really and it always works - I've never had a ring back!
