What about your business are you most proud of?
The majority of my business comes from personal recommendations from couples who have spread the word and told their friends and their family so we must be doing something right!
What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?
Set a budget and stick to it - it's easy to get carried away!
What is your favourite personal touch you have seen at a wedding?
Surprise visits by guests the couples didn't know were coming. It's never about anyone famous turning up but a special or important family member who is able to share the day with the couple, always a special moment.
Describe your typical process with a couple.
Consultation meeting with the happy couple and often family
Booking suppliers and planning etc
Ongoing chats, appointments throughout the planning process.
Meet up before the wedding day to run through everything . . . again!
What is the most unusual thing you’ve been asked to plan?
I've been asked to do many, many things but probably the most unusual thing I've ever been asked to be involved with was for a bride who loved all things medieval. The groom wanted to surprise her so we helped him learn how to ride a horse and on the wedding day I helped him to tactically disappear at dusk and then re-appear as a knight on said horse and sweep his lady up and ride off into the sunset or at least across the field! Trying to plan before and on the day as well as the logistics of hiding a horsebox, a rather large horse and knight's suit of armour from a very inquisitive and really liked to be hands on bride was no mean feat!
How do you ensure a stress-free wedding?
It's a little like juggling plates and is a fine balancing act. I set lots of plates in motion and take whatever action is required to ensure they are all still spinning whilst adding or taking away plates and then eventually it culminates in an amazing display of plates all spinning in perfect harmony which is ultimately a couples wedding day! The secret to making everything look as though it's relaxed and carefree is to have done your homework and made sure everything is perfectly executed exactly the way it should be!
What do you love most about your job?
Everything! I'm a people person and genuinely love helping couples and get so much personal satisfaction by watching a carefully executed plan become a reality. There's a saying, 'Don't sweat the small stuff' well I do and I love it!
What is your favourite moment at a wedding?
There's so many special times it's difficult to pick just one but if I have to choose it would be the first look! I love to watch the faces when the couple first see each other, either when one enters the room, walks down the aisle or first appear, that's really what it's all about, two people who love each other coming together and that look gets me every time!
