✨ Sunday Best Ceremonies

Modern, personal ceremonies full of warmth, meaning and joy

Hello, I’m Sarah Precious, the face and heart behind Sunday Best Ceremonies. I’m an independent celebrant based in Devon, near Exeter, working with couples across Devon, Cornwall, the South West and beyond.

I create ceremonies for people who care about connection, storytelling and how a moment feels. Ceremonies that sound like you, feel like you, and celebrate everything that makes your story yours.

💛 What working with me feels like

Your ceremony should be the heart of your day, not the bit everyone politely sits through before heading for the fizz.

I’ll take the time to really get to know you both. Your story, your people, the little quirks, the moments that matter most. From there, I shape a ceremony that feels relaxed, genuine and full of heart, with humour where you want it and calm where you need it.

Think belly laughs, happy tears, knowing smiles and a room full of people who feel completely present.

✍️ How I work

Every ceremony I create is bespoke.

We begin with a relaxed, no obligation discovery call so we can chat through your ideas and see if we’re the right fit. From there, I’ll guide you through each step, from sharing your story to shaping your final script.

You’ll receive a thoughtful questionnaire to help you reflect and share your story in your own words. Many couples tell me this is one of their favourite parts.

I’ll then head into my creative corner with a cuppa and start writing. We’ll refine your ceremony together until it feels completely right. No limit on edits. No pressure. Just words that sound like you.

On the day, I arrive early with calm confidence and a smile, ready to support you and help everything feel easy and joyful.

💍 Wedding ceremonies

Your wedding ceremony should feel warm, modern and unmistakably yours.

No generic wording. No awkward moments. Just a ceremony shaped around your relationship, your tone and the way you want your day to feel.

Whatever you imagine, we can bring your ceremony to life in a way that feels natural, joyful and completely you.

💞 Vow renewals

Whether you are renewing your vows quietly or celebrating with your favourite people, your ceremony deserves care and meaning.

I’ll listen, learn what this moment represents for you both, and craft a ceremony that reflects the journey you’ve shared and the love you continue to choose.

🌿 Elopements

Elopements hold a different kind of magic.

They are intimate, calm and full of feeling. Just the two of you, in a place that feels right, with no pressure and no expectations.

I’ll help you create an elopement ceremony that feels modern, meaningful and deeply personal, allowing you to breathe, be present and savour every second.

FAQs
Find out a bit more from our FAQs

What is a celebrant?

A celebrant works with you to create a ceremony that feels comfortable, meaningful and true to who you are. The kind of ceremony where the words sound natural, the moments feel well paced and everyone in the room knows they are part of something real.

Your ceremony can include readings, music, storytelling, personal vows, rituals and the small details that make people smile and think that is so you. There are no set rules. If it matters to you, I will find a way to weave it in.

Celebrant led ceremonies are wonderfully flexible and can include religious, spiritual or cultural elements, family involvement or a quiet moment of reflection. It is not one size fits all. It is about what feels right for you.

Being a celebrant is about more than writing words. It is about how the ceremony feels in the room. The flow, the pauses and helping everyone feel relaxed and present, creating a ceremony people genuinely enjoy and remember as the moment the day truly began.

Why choose a celebrant?

Because your ceremony should feel like it belongs to you.

A celebrant gives you time, space and attention. I take the time to get to know who you are, how you connect and what matters most to you, so your ceremony feels relaxed, natural and genuinely personal.

It is not about ticking boxes or rushing through the words. It is about creating a moment that feels meaningful and well paced. One that reflects your relationship, brings people together and sets the tone for the rest of your day.

The result is a ceremony people actually listen to, enjoy and remember as the moment everything truly began.

Are celebrant ceremonies legal in the UK?

Not at the moment. In England and Wales, a celebrant led wedding is not a legal marriage.

To make things official, you will need to visit your local register office either before or after your ceremony day and sign the legal paperwork with two witnesses. It is a short appointment, usually around fifteen minutes, and the fee is normally between £50-£70 pounds depending on your local council.

You will not need to say vows or exchange rings at this appointment. Most couples simply complete the paperwork quietly and save the personal words and celebrations for their ceremony with me.

Think of the legal part as the admin. Your celebrant ceremony is where the meaning, the joy and the storytelling come to life.

If you ever need help understanding the process or booking your appointment, I am always happy to guide you.

What is the difference between a celebrant and a registrar?

A registrar takes care of the legal side of getting married. They follow a set script and can only conduct ceremonies in licensed venues.

A celebrant (that’s me!) brings the personal side to life. I learn your story, your personalities and what you care about, then shape a ceremony that feels warm, relaxed and unmistakably you.

You choose the tone, the location, the style, the readings and every detail that matters. Most couples do the quick legal paperwork at the register office and then enjoy their celebrant ceremony as the real beginning of their wedding day.

Can we personalise our ceremony?

Yes, absolutely! This is where the magic is.

Your ceremony can sound exactly how you want it to. I will shape your script around your story, your style and what feels right for the two of you.

You can choose the music, the readings, any rituals, your vows and how involved you want your guests to be.

Can we include religious or symbolic elements?

Yes, certainly.

You can include religious readings, cultural traditions, spiritual moments or symbolic rituals such as handfasting, unity candles, ring warming, tree planting or wine box ceremonies. If it holds meaning for you, I can include it.

Where can we have our ceremony?

Almost anywhere you like! A beach, a woodland clearing, a cosy garden, a family field, your favourite pub or a beautiful venue.

Celebrant ceremonies give you complete freedom to choose a place that feels right for you.

I am based in East Devon, near Exeter, and travel across the South West, the UK and further afield when needed (travel charges may apply).

Where do we start?

We start with a complimentary discovery call, which takes around thirty minutes.

It is relaxed, friendly and a chance for us to chat about your ideas, your story and the feeling you want for your ceremony.

If it all feels like a good fit, your booking fee and agreement will secure your date!

How far in advance should we book?

If you have a date in mind, get in touch as soon as you can. Popular weekends, especially from spring to autumn, are often booked many months in advance.

That said, it is always worth asking. I sometimes have unexpected availability, particularly midweek or out of season.

How many ceremonies do you officiate in one day?

Only one. When I book your ceremony, the whole day is yours and receives my full attention.

I will arrive early, settle the space, chat with your suppliers and be there to support you both with calm, steady energy from start to finish.
