Rachel Parkin Celebrant Full Description

Looking for a special kind of ceremony ? Want to do things your way? Let me plan a one-of-a-kind ceremony that you and your guests will never forget. No stuffy scripts; no rules; no limits! With me as your celebrant, you can be sure of a magical, memorable wedding, all about you. I’ll create a unique ceremony that will tell your story and let your personalities shine.

You can have a ceremony wherever you like, as long as it's safe and accessible. Whether it's a country house, a woodland glade, a rustic barn or your favourite pub, the choice is yours. You can even turn your wedding into a street party or a festival!

You may already have loads of ideas about your big day, or you may be looking for guidance. Whatever stage you're at in your planning process, I'll work with you, offering all the help you need to plan a ceremony to remember.

As I get to know you, I can begin to create a unique ceremony that tells your story exactly how you want to tell it. I'll liaise closely with other suppliers - such as your venue staff, stylists and photographer - to ensure we all make your day truly special.

On the day itself I'll turn up early and check out the venue. I'll liaise with venue staff and suppliers to make sure everything is in place. If you have a wedding planner or coordinator, I'll let them get on with their job and won't step on their toes!

I can meet with you (separately or together) before the ceremony to go through the final details, answer any last-minute questions and calm any nerves.

A typical ceremony will last around 30-40 minutes, but I can adapt the length to suit you. After the ceremony, I'll bid you farewell and let you get on with your celebrations (unless you want me to stay!) I'll present you with a souvenir script and certificate - and big hugs of course!

FAQs
Find out a bit more from our FAQs

What is your most memorable wedding?

My most memorable was my first! An absolutely joyous gay wedding, in the middle of the street, in the heart of my local community. They were the most gorgeous, generous and hilarious couple whom I now call my friends. The wedding was in public, open to everyone and the street was full of joy and love. An incredible day from start to finish!

Describe your style in 5 adjectives.

Warm, friendly, funny, emotional, inclusive

What about your business are you most proud of?

I'm proud of creating unique, meaningful and memorable ceremonies for my couples.

What is your No.1 wedding planning tip for couples?

Try not to fall down the rabbit hole of wedding planning! It's easy to get overwhelmed with so many suppliers offering you stuff that you may or may not need. Focus on what matters to you. How do you want to feel, and what do you want to remember after the day? Once you've thought about that, you'll find the things and people you need will fall into place.

What is your favourite personal touch you have seen at a wedding?

When couples say their own vows, I can't help getting emotional!

Describe your typical process with a couple.

First I'll have a chat, either face to face or via a video call, and I'll find out all about you. How you met, first impression, pet peeves, all the exciting adventures you've shared and hopes for the future. I'll find out what kind of ceremony you're looking for. I'll draft a ceremony schedule and offer ideas for readings and vows if needed.

A couple of months before the ceremony I'll send my draft script, which you're free to amend as you see fit until we've got the perfect ceremony. On the day of your wedding, I'll turn up nice and early and check in with your venue and other suppliers. If you like we can have a chat beforehand to go through any last-minute details. I'll deliver your ceremony (typical length about 30 minutes) and then bid you a fond farewell and be on my way (unless you want me to stay, of course!)

What is the most unusual thing you’ve been asked to plan?

A flashmob-style wedding, out in the street, in full public view!

How do you ensure a stress-free wedding?

Communication is key. Try not to be influenced too much by other people. It's your day, not theirs. Be honest with each other about what you want and don't want. Be willing to meet each other halfway or look for an alternative if you can't agree. Keep talking!

What is your No.1 wedding planning tip for couples?

Meeting wonderful people and sharing their love stories!

What is your favourite moment at a wedding?

A seemingly never-ending sea of hugs after the ceremony in the street!
