Lisa Pope Celebrant Full Description
From spending time with Couples upfront to understand how they have evolved, and who they are and what they really want, enables me to write a ceremony that reflects them and their family cultures. I am from a performance and writing background and have experience of corporate events having once been in a wedding Band...I have an awareness of how Weddings can work well and yet not seem like a production line! I love finding out what creative ideas are within my couples and enjoy supporting and teasing out ideas and dreams, and writing a ceremony that is unique to them. I also have awareness of different circumstances that arise within families, and how sometimes Weddings can stir complicated issues within families. I am sensitive to people's needs and help people overcome any fears around the BIG DAY. I have also worked as a presentation skills Coach, so can help with speeches too! I love the whole process of meeting people, discovering how they work as a couple and writing something that celebrates their uniqueness as a couple. Just because you are marrying, doesn't mean you have to have what everyone else has. It's about finding out how you can celebrate your relationship and the success of being together and sharing that success with those who you want to share the day with. Sometimes couples just need someone to MC on the day and they have very clear ideas what they want, and I am happy with supporting that too. It is important to have the right Celebrant matched to couples, so I am happy to chat first and see if we can work together, it's integral to a successful and happy day. I love a challenge - if you have an unusual location or want me to learn vows in a different language, I can try and meet the request. Just ask. I have learnt vows in Italian and German so far! I am based in Hastings, East Sussex and London. I can travel! I am also the inhouse Celebrant at Kensington Roof Gardens. I look forward to hearing from you.

FAQs
Find out a bit more from our FAQs

What is your most memorable wedding?

All my weddings have been special because they are very different each time... I try to reflect the individuality of the couple. However the Hawthbush farm wedding last year was a magical setting and despite the wet weather it was great fun - as Rosie and Jon were wonderful to work with and took it all in their stride - great fun!

Describe your style in 5 adjectives.

Creative, reflective, humorous, caring, observant

What about your business are you most proud of?

The ability to adapt to different people, surroundings and needs to ensure that my ceremonies are reflective of the couple and bring great joy and love to all the guests

What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?

Be true to what you both feel is right for you - it is your day and you want to enjoy it... don't feel obliged to go with what you think people expect, go with what suits your personalities and budget!

What is your favourite personal touch you have seen at a wedding?

I loved Liz and Dino's personalised bottles of malt whisky handed out as favours, rather lovely. Also any live music, be it a guitarist or a jazz trio, for people to gather around and get in to the spirit it always creates a great atmostphere

Describe your typical process with a couple.

Initial chat on phone / skype to see if we can work together and then arrange a meeting preferably at the venue. Spend a couple of hours hearing their story and getting to know them and what ideas they have... bouncing ideas between us. Going away and researching any ideas then writing a bespoke ceremony and send to them for approval. Making any changes if need be and signing off final draft. Rehearsing the vows during the week of the wedding if poss at the venue. Alternatively over SKYPE. On the day I am there a good hour before to prep... liaise with other professionals etc... I am there to fit in with the day , so if there's a delay I am flexible, I only do ONE wedding a day! No running off to another ceremony like a registrar. I can also work with a registrar if they are happy to do this... not all registrars are.

What is the most unusual thing you’ve been asked to plan?

I have been asked to plan a wedding in a theatre, a bandstand, a woodland setting and a baby naming in a garage! Im very adaptable.

How do you ensure a stress-free wedding?

PLAN, PREPARE and PREDICT for the unexpected!

What do you love most about your job?

The variety of events the different people I meet and the love of hearing their stories

What is your favourite moment at a wedding?

When everyone cheers and the bride and groom have shared their vows and seal it with a kiss, its magic
