J. Hobbs Civil Celebrant Full Description
A Civil Celebrant ceremony will provide you with a service that is unique and developed in accordance with your precise wishes, every step of the way. When we first meet, I’ll put you at ease, there’s no rules or regulations to abide by so we can plan your wedding journey together. By the time the big day arrives you’ll feel that your ceremony is being conducted by someone you know and trust. Starting with a blank slate we'll chat about your ideas and hopes for your; Wedding Ceremony, Vow Renewal Ceremony, Blessing or Celtic Handfasting. Together we'll create a bespoke ceremony that reflects the history, culture, quirks and character of you as a couple. By using wonderful words, eclectic music, mini ceremonies, friends and family input and of course your love story, I'll compose a ceremony that you and your guests will remember forever. Vow Renewal Ceremonies are organised for so many reasons, I don't consider a renewal any more or less important than a wedding ceremony. With me you're guaranteed a tailor made ceremony! You'll have the same freedom to choose the content, time and location of your ceremony, plus it's a lovely opportunity to celebrate your love alongside those who were there first time around and those who are new additions to the family. Blessings are a great idea if you've eloped, family & friends who feel left out can be appeased if they get to see a simple ceremony with comforting aspects such as vows, rose exchange and hand blessing. If you have spiritual side and want to embrace the elements and mystical aspects of the world, why not consider having a Handfasting. This traditional ceremony can be as authentic as you want it to be. Whether you want cloaks, candles, wands, besoms and blessings or just a selection of simple rituals such as; the tying of the hands or drinking from the loving cup, I will always create the marriage ceremony according to your exact wishes.

FAQs
Find out a bit more from our FAQs

What is your most memorable wedding?

Sunrise Handfasting at Stonehenge

Describe your style in 5 adjectives.

Warm, humorous, professional, relaxed, confident

What about your business are you most proud of?

That I've been able to add a special touch to each and every ceremony I've created and delivered. Also that I've made some good friends through my work.

What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?

It's your day, stick to your guns and don't be bullied or swayed by family and friends. Celebrate your love in the way that truly reflects you as a couple, not how others want you to!

What is your favourite personal touch you have seen at a wedding?

The faces of the bride and grooms mothers as they were given their roses during the first kiss last kiss ceremony.

Describe your typical process with a couple.

Email to confirm I’ve availability then meet with me for no obligation chat. Once we’ve met and you’ve decided if you want us to work together, you complete my booking form and pay the non refundable deposit by BACS. Once received, the date is confirmed in my diary. Meet up, or Skype, FaceTime, email regularly sharing ideas and I provide access to my resources. I make myself available for advice/guidance and provide drafts of the ceremony for you to look at. I edit them until you’re both 100% happy. I arrive early on the day, meet other people: wedding planner, master of ceremonies, photographer etc. Say hi to the groom and his people, check they have rings, music organized, he's calm etc. Then if the Bride wants I will pop in to her and reassure her if she’s anxious. Once I've done the ceremony I make myself available for photos (if you want me) and then I quietly leave so that you can continue celebrating with your friends and families. Afterwards, I provide a copy of the ceremony and you share images with me and feedback for promotional use.

What is the most unusual thing you’ve been asked to plan?

A strange Victoriana, Bram Stoker type wedding theme combined with Christmas carols and a lot of acknowledging family members who were deceased. Although strange the couple clearly loved each other and had been through so much in their lives before they met, so I was happy to develop the ceremony that the bride had dreamt of for years.

How do you ensure a stress-free wedding?

Keep a sense of humour and delegate. Try to focus on the important part of the day , the marriage ceremony. The words you speak to one another are what’s important, the other things are lovely but if they're not perfect its not the end of the world.

What do you love most about your job?

Keep everything in a folder, don’t be afraid to do things your way. Make your own traditions.

What is your favourite moment at a wedding?

When the couple first come face to face in front of me ready to make the biggest commitment of their lives. You can just feel and see the love between them.
