If the thought of a stiff, impersonal ceremony makes you cringe, you’re in the right place.
Since 2019, I’ve had the joy of creating and leading humanist wedding ceremonies for hundreds of couples across Northern Ireland and beyond – from quiet, intimate gatherings to big, joy-filled celebrations full of laughter and love. Experience has taught me this: the best ceremonies aren’t about scripts or traditions for the sake of it – they’re about connection, story, and doing things in a way that feels right for you.

Sarah Stewart|Humanist Celebrant Northern Ireland Full Description

I’m Sarah, a Humanist Wedding Celebrant based in Northern Ireland, creating relaxed, meaningful and genuinely personal wedding ceremonies for couples who want something a little bit different. Your ceremony is written completely from scratch – no templates, no copy-and-paste, and nothing that doesn’t feel like you. I take the time to really get to know you as a couple, so your ceremony reflects your story, your values and the tone you want for your day, whether that’s romantic and heartfelt, light-hearted and fun, or a perfect blend of both. As a Humanist celebrant, I offer non-religious ceremonies that still carry depth, warmth and meaning. You can include symbolic elements such as handfasting, ring warming, unity rituals or readings chosen by you, or keep things beautifully simple. There are no rules or scripts to follow – everything is shaped around what matters most to you. Couples often tell me they feel instantly at ease with me, and that’s something I really value. From our first chat through to your wedding day, I’ll guide you through the process in a calm, supportive and friendly way, making the whole experience feel enjoyable and stress-free. On the day itself, I’ll lead your ceremony with confidence, warmth and just the right amount of humour, while keeping the focus exactly where it should be – on the two of you. If you’re looking for a celebrant who is professional, approachable and genuinely invested in telling your story well, I’d love to be part of your day.

Love across the Atlantic

Now that family has gone home, we have time to reflect on our day so Jason and I would like to send a huge thank you for making our wedding ceremony incredible! My family who had never been to a humanist ceremony before said “this is how a ceremony should be”! The way you put each of our stories together to make one was amazing! I will never forget it!

We are so glad we chose Sarah to officiate our wedding. We knew she would take the time to craft a ceremony that was personal and meaningful to us. She did not disappoint! She was so thoughtful and genuine in the way she told our love story and reflected our lives in all the little details, like referring to our families, pets and hobbies. As soon as I arrived at the venue and saw Sarah I felt at ease as she calmly and confidently explained how the explained how the ceremony would run. Thank you

Our experience with Sarah was perfect. Sarah made what was a complicated process to us seem simple and straightforward. Sarah crafted a wonderful personal ceremony for us, that captured the exact vibe of what we wanted on our wedding day. We were able to work with Sarah to tailor the ceremony to our preference, while relying on Sarah's expertise and taking her advice. We would absolutely recommend Sarah to anyone looking to have a Humanist Ceremony!

Excellent!

Sarah made our ceremony everything we wanted it to be and more. She delivered our story in both a funny and loving way and everyone is still telling us about how much they enjoyed it! She went out of her way to get all our information and to make our ceremony completely about us and our story while also making it short and sweet (the way we wanted it). We couldnt have asked for anymore from her, she really did everything possible for us and we really appreciated everything.

FAQs
Find out a bit more from our FAQs

What is your most memorable wedding?

I have several!! But one is particular was a couple who had a themed Alice in Wonderland wedding. They had a huge marquee in their garden decked out like a mad hatters tea party, complete with the Cheshire Cat!

The actual ceremony was right by a beautiful waterfall and the bride arrived in a Motorbike sidecar driven by the Mad Hatter! It was a hoot!

Describe your style in 5 adjectives.

Uplifting, celebratory, a bit of craic, light hearted, fun

What about your business are you most proud of?

The opportunity is gives me to meet and work with so many lovely couples. I love to see how everyone is so unique, from the script we develop to the flowers, dresses, decor and flowers. Oh and not forgetting the fabulous shoes!! I get to visit some wonderful venues all around Northern Ireland and I love any excuse to get on a nice frock and a bit of lippy for a wedding day!

What is your No.1 wedding planning tip for couples?

Book early!

What is your favourite personal touch you have seen at a wedding?

A flowergirl pulling her baby cousin flower girl down the aisle in a white wooden cart, with fluffy blankets and bows. THE CUTEST!

Describe your typical process with a couple.

Initial no obligation video call to explain the process of booking, legal requirements and ceremony planning. Usually a meet up for coffee, script planning and getting a sense of what a couple want and developing a first draft script to be agreed in preparation for the big day. And of course, the day itself. Every couple is different and by that my process and approach is very flexible to meet the individual needs of the couple.

What is the most unusual thing you’ve been asked to plan?

A burning bowl fire and unity candle ceremony. It was class!

How do you ensure a stress-free wedding?

Spreadsheets!! And good planning!

What is your favourite moment at a wedding?

Wow - too many to choose one! Honestly, there isn't a wedding I dont have a favourite moment from, they are all wonderful and memorable.
