I am a wedding celebrant and Celebrants Scotland Marriage Officer, authorised to solemnise your marriage on your wedding day. What does that mean? I can legally marry you anywhere in Scotland! As an Edinburgh native I know all the best places for your huge shindig, micro wedding or elopement - just ask!
As soon as possible! Once you’ve confirmed your venue and the date of your celebration, next on the list – book your celebrant! Wedding celebrants get very busy, often booked over a year in advance, so it’s always best to book in plenty of time to avoid disappointment.
Yes absolutely, as a Marriage Officer with Celebrants Scotland I am authorised to solemnise your marriage – in other words I am a wedding celebrant who can legally marry you anywhere in Scotland.
Absolutely - symbolic wedding rituals are fantastic to include in your wedding ceremony. If you're looking for Scottish traditional rituals we can explore including a handfasting or quaich ceremony, or you may like to include a ritual that's representative of your own culture or heritage.
Yes you can be married in Scotland, even if you live elsewhere. Scotland is a very popular wedding destination for couples from all over the world. If you want to be legally married in Scotland there is, of course, some paperwork involved. Alternatively you may choose to be legally married in your home country and have a symbolic wedding or commitment ceremony in Scotland. The National Records of Scotland website is a useful starting point if you’re exploring getting married in Scotland and are non-UK nationals.
You can be married anywhere in Scotland – with the landowners permission of course. I love conducting ceremonies outdoors in the historic city of Edinburgh. Or why not hold your celebration in a location which is meaningful to you – on the beach, the hills or beside a beautiful Scottish loch.
Yes, you can elope to be married in Scotland and there are many amazing locations at which to hold your elopement ceremony. For a legal marriage ceremony you will also require two witnesses - friends, family or perhaps your photographer? If you'd rather it was just the two of you, you can hold a symbolic commitment elopement ceremony and be legally married in your home country.
Yes I do. I'm happy to provide a complimentary digital copy of your personalised wedding ceremony script after your wedding. It makes the perfect momento of your day - enjoy reliving the moment you were married!
I am a wedding celebrant based in Edinburgh, but happy to travel throughout Scotland. If you are being married further than 60 miles from Edinburgh I may add travel costs to my fee. This will always be discussed and agreed in advance of your booking. No nasty surprises here!
I am a memeber of Celebrants Scotland and we guarantee that one of our authorised Marriage Officers would always be available to marry you on the day if an emergency arose and I was unable to attend. It is very unlikely to happen, but always good to have a plan B just incase of an unexpected illness or life event.
