What is your most memorable wedding?
Probably the first I managed. The couple had chosen a venue that was still being built...right up until the last week of planning! They were fun, relaxed and incredibly trusting in our ideas and gave me the confidence to build the business from there. We still stay in touch and they visit yearly with their growing family.
Describe your style in 5 adjectives.
Calm, caring, honest, reliable and relaxed
What about your business are you most proud of?
The testimonials from our lovely clients. I love creating personal relationships with each client.
What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?
Allow plenty of time. Getting the bulk of your supplier booking completed early takes the pressure off last minute panics. Most suppliers only require small booking fees initially, and it will give you piece of mind that you have the right suppliers for your day booked and secured.
What is your favourite personal touch you have seen at a wedding?
A bride who had elements of her Grandmothers wedding dress and veil sewn into her own dress.
Describe your typical process with a couple.
After an initial discussion, either via email, telephone or Skype, I will arrange to meet the couple face to face to ensure they are happy with our suggestions, and to ensure they feel comfortable with me as a person. Your wedding planner is a big part of your day and you need to like them to feel comfortable with them being part of such a special occasion.
What is the most unusual thing you’ve been asked to plan?
We were asked to plan a surprise barn dance for the evening reception of one of our weddings, including a full change of clothes for each guest, a reception room transformation from fine dining to full barn including straw and a bucking bronco being bought onto site without any guest noticing!
How do you ensure a stress-free wedding?
We absorb the stress for the clients. I like to refer to it as 'the swan'. Whatever is happening, the client will only ever see peace and calm from me on the exterior, even if my little feet are running at a hundred miles an hour under the surface dealing with all eventualities.
What do you love most about your job?
Always have a wet weather plan. Regardless of the time of year, it will allow you great peace of mind to know you have a wet weather back up plan.
What is your favourite moment at a wedding?
Just before a couple get announced into the wedding reception. This seems to be the moment where couples really acknowledge they are married! It is a very sweet moment to be part of full of excitement and joy.
