What is your most memorable wedding?
This year I photographed a same sex handfasting ceremony in an idyllic woodland glade in the Cotswolds. The weather was exceptionally hot with record breaking temperatures and in the middle of the ceremony, the couple's dog spotted a deer in an adjacent field and gave chase! The couple took this in their stride and the ceremony, jumping of the broom ritual and tea party celebration were particularly memorable!
Describe your style in 5 adjectives.
Reportage, unobtrusive, candid, dramatic, vibrant.
What about your business are you most proud of?
I'm self taught, but have made some bold and brave decisions and managed to achieve things I never thought possible. Examples of my wedding photography have been published in industry magazines. I have also had portraits published internationally, in Pin Up Magazine and InFrame Magazine.
What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?
Don't allow outside influences cloud your judgment. Go with your gut and don't stress!
What is your favourite personal touch you have seen at a wedding?
I love it when couples make their pets a central part of their day...for example a canine ring bearer and giant photo cat boards!
Describe your typical process with a couple.
I usually ask them to complete an online booking form and then I arrange to call them. I ask for a deposit to secure the booking. (This is because it's highly possible that I will turn down other jobs on the same date and if a wedding is cancelled, I stand to lose income). I always offer a pre-wedding meeting which is entirely optional and I also like to visit the venue beforehand to familiarise myself with the setting. As standard and to keep costs down, I offer edited images on a memory stick.
What is the No. 1 photo that you think every couple should take?
That just married shot!
What is the most original photo you’ve been asked to take at a wedding?
I was once asked to photograph a groom's pin badge and his wife's pendant featuring their spirit animals.
What do you recommend for a rainy day wedding?
Umbrellas, boots and a sense of humour!
Describe how you got into photography.
I think I was influenced by my father, who was always into photography and I've long been a bit of a film and music buff, as well as a nature lover and just love to capture beauty in all its forms!
