What is your most memorable wedding?
There's been so many but the one that sticks out is when the father of the bride - after having had a dance with his daughter - decided to cartwheel off the dancefloor inadvertently kicking the groom in his face right before the first dance. Quite the way to end the day.
Describe your style in 5 adjectives.
Natural, relaxed, fun, timeless, romantic
What about your business are you most proud of?
I'm most proud of the quality of the work my business produces. I'm proud that we can offer exceptional results without being intrusive on the wedding day.
What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?
Timing is everything and I don't mean time of year, I mean how much time you give yourself throughout the day. Too tight a schedule, you'll feel rushed which can lead to stress. Too long and your guests will get hungry and bored. Find the sweet spot and ask other brides about their day. If you need advice, just ask me. I've done nearly 700 weddings, I could easily be a wedding planner :)
What is your favourite personal touch you have seen at a wedding?
One thing I see a lot of that tugs at the heart strings are table or place setting for lost friends and family. Gone but certainly not forgotten.
Describe your typical process with a couple.
First thing to get the conversation going is to check availability with us. If I am free, then we can chat all about your wedding - this can be over the phone, text message, WhatsApp or Zoom - whichever you prefer. When you are ready to book, we'll take some details down, ask for a deposit £150 and that's it. Nice and simple. Closer to the wedding, we'll contact you to go over the finer details of the day such as where you are getting ready, what time you'll be cutting the cake and so on. On the wedding day itself you'll mostly be left alone and I'll be capturing things naturally but I do recommend a photo session after the ceremony so we can grab your group shots and some awesome portraits of the two of you. Following the wedding is when the bulk of the work starts - the editing! This can take a while (as I'm pretty picky with my own work) but be assured they'll only be sent out once they look amazing.
What is the No. 1 photo that you think every couple should take?
A group shot of everyone.
What is the most original photo you’ve been asked to take at a wedding?
I don't know whether you'd class it as original, but I had a bunch of Scottish Lads want to prove they were wearing their kilts properly (i.e. with no underwear). My poor delicate eyes.
What do you recommend for a rainy day wedding?
Always bring an umbrella - they look awesome in photos and keep you dry in rain, in the shade on hot summer days.
Describe how you got into photography.
I originally started by making short films over 20 years ago. I then get side-tracked by running my local cinema for 13 years but I eventually left, started a brand new career - and still going strong 12 years later.
