Elwood Photography is an award-winning York wedding photographer, specialising in relaxed, documentary-style wedding photography for couples who want their day captured naturally and beautifully.
With years of experience photographing weddings across York, North Yorkshire and the North East, I focus on telling the real story of your wedding — the moments you didn’t see, the emotions you felt, and everything in between. My approach is unobtrusive and calm, allowing you to enjoy your day while I quietly document it as it unfolds.
I offer full-day wedding photography, typically covering everything from morning preparations through to the first dance and beyond. All full-day packages include a professionally designed luxury wedding album, so your photographs don’t just live on a screen — they’re crafted into something timeless you can return to for years to come.
Couples often describe my style as natural, authentic and storytelling-led, with an emphasis on genuine moments rather than forced poses. I’ll guide you when needed, but most of the day I work discreetly, capturing your wedding exactly as it happens.
If you’re looking for an experienced York wedding photographer who offers complete, full-day coverage with a beautiful album included as standard, I’d love to hear about your plans.
My own! - 33 years ago this year
Relaxed, Different, Sociable, Inclusive, Black and White
Creativity - giving people what they didn't know they could have
OK this is not business related but spend some time thinking about what life will be like AFTER the wedding day - you have the chance to make a new start as a married couple so how are you going to make it count
anything that is unique about the two of you - don't worry about being someone else
Initial meeting to discuss their hopes and plans, second conversation before to finalise times, places and so on. On the day I will arrive early
Ones with family members - not wishing to sound morbid but life is short and the occasions when whole families get together are few and far between so the ones with everyone in become treasured memories. However I enjoy doing pictures of the couple on their own!!! no bridesmaids, groomsmen or other people in the way!
Bride in the shower as she gets ready - Ask me for the story!
You have a decision to make - shoot it or not - pictures in the rain can look passionate and fantastic but mess the dress up big time! I'd rather just go for it often the lighting is more even because of the clouds so the overall effect can be better!
