What is your most memorable wedding?
Ooh there have been many! But the time I was flown to Istanbul is up there, as is my snowy February Viking themed wedding!
Describe your style in 5 adjectives.
Relaxed, colourful, fun, creative, warm
What about your business are you most proud of?
It's longevity! 13 years I've been a pro and so have lots of experience photographing all ages and walks of life. I'm pretty adept at guiding people and helping them to relax and so look great in front of the camera. I have done all sorts - landscape, still life, weddings, families, businesses
What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?
Don't plan your schedule down to the minute - allow pockets of time where nothing much is happening. Time for a drink, or a wee or just 5 mins alone with your new husband/wife! You want to enjoy your day, take your time! And be comfortable! That boned corset may LOOK great, but you'll regret it when you can't eat or dance!
What is your favourite personal touch you have seen at a wedding?
Ooh too many to mention! But recently I enjoyed a wonderful colourful gay wedding where the tables were named after their favourite divas (Tina, Cher etc!) and a pair of film lovers who had a red carpet and a film instead of speeches - complete with popcorn and little ice cream tubs.
Describe your typical process with a couple.
Usually chat over email/zoom to answer questions/book in, then a Zoom around a month before the day to concoct a plan. Capture the wedding day itself! Then provide a small preview 2 weeks later and a full online gallery at 6 weeks. Then for those with albums its time to start the design process..
What is the No. 1 photo that you think every couple should take?
Couple shots are so important. Even if you want completely candid documentary style coverage it's always worth earmarking 20 min in the evening light for a few beautifully lit, quiet pictures together. And by that time you're usually ready for a little break from a heavily social day!
What is the most original photo you’ve been asked to take at a wedding?
Of the top of my head - probably my Brides holding their owl ring bearer
What do you recommend for a rainy day wedding?
A good sense of humour/sense of adventure is key. Playing outside light rain can be fun! I always carry brollies. Also as keen as you are on an outdoor wedding pick a venue where you do have a wet weather contingency - places with pretty indoor spaces to shoot in/room for your guests to be comfortable even if it is a wet day.
Describe how you got into photography.
I fell in love with it at A-level due to it's lovely mix of art and science, studied it at uni, then got a job as a family portrait photographer for a busy Bristol studio where I stayed for many years. While there I simultaneously built my wedding photography business - setting out alone in 2013 and never looking back!
