I can’t stop looking at our photos!

We loved dealing with Sophia from the beginning of our photographer search. She made it so easy to be relaxed as people who do not like posing! Our photos from our pre wed shoot and wedding are exquisite! They are natural and reflect our relationship - which was so important. The photos from the wedding really tell the story and recreate all the feels! Sophia recommended we have a second shooter too because of the amount of guests (120) so we did. Matt was wonderful too and they both felt like guests at the wedding. We’ve had so many comments on how they were barely seen yet have taken such beautiful photos. Highly recommend and wish we could do it all again with you!

I'd highly recommend working with Sophia to make sure you get the most awesome photos!

Having Sophia photograph our wedding was honestly just such a lovely experience! I luckily came across her work on Instagram and quickly sent her a message re availability. She was super quick and easy to communicate with throughout. We had an initial skype call (as we live in Australia) and found we got on really well and had the same shared vision when talking weddings. Upon Sophia's suggestion, we managed to squeeze in a pre-wedding photoshoot too, not only have we got more beautiful photos from this shoot it was the perfect warm up for the wedding day to come. That meant come wedding day, everything was organised and I didn't have to worry one little bit about what was happening with the photography on the day (Sophia had already asked us to supply a list of must have photos which was great). Brides-to-be, trust me. You need a photographer that can take control on the day but seamlessly slip into the background so that you forget there are even photos being taken – definitely a recipe to get the most wonderful candid shots of your day. All the guests commented on how lovely she was too! One thing that hadn't crossed my mind was the industry standard wait for your wedding photos of 6-8 weeks. However, Sophia had! To our immense surprise the morning after the wedding we had a link to a blog post with a variety of images from our wedding day, having these to look at immediately was the nicest surprise we could have had! All in all, I'd highly recommend working with Sophia to make sure you get the most awesome photos!

FAQs

What is your most memorable wedding?

A few of years ago I got to shoot a wedding with my childhood friend who I hadn't seen for 15 years. It was a warm summer day, the wedding was incredibly beautiful, ran and organised by a whole army of the best wedding vendors in the country, the whole day was perfect and I remember being touched by the 'wedding magic'. That was the day when I decided to become a wedding photographer.

Describe your style in 5 adjectives.

Simple, intuitive and effortlessly beautiful

What about your business are you most proud of?

The relationship with my clients.

What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?

When planning your wedding, listen to your guts and focus on things that really make the day special for you. (No.2 - consider light when choosing the venue or AirBnB for the bride and groom prep. Good photos start with good light!

What is your favourite personal touch you have seen at a wedding?

An intimate first look before the ceremony followed by the couple reading their wedding vows for each other. It made me cry like a baby. It was so emotional and beautiful!

Describe your typical process with a couple.

It usually starts with an email. If I'm available on the date I send out a pdf Wedding Guide and a price list. At this point, I like to meet the couple either in person or on Skype just to make sure that we're on the same page. Also, it's a great opportunity to chat about all the technical questions, the timing of the day, etc. If the couple decides to hire me, I send them a booking form, then a Photography Agreement and an invoice. Once the deposit is paid and the contract is signed I'm officially booked for their day. If the package includes a pre-wedding session, we first with organising that. I recommend to do this a few weeks before the wedding, unless the couple wants to use the images for their wedding website. 2 weeks before the wedding I sent out a long and detailed questionnaire. Usually by that point the timeline of the day is clear, so I can plan ahead with my shotlist. On the wedding day, I like to arrive early, so we can have a quick chat with the bride and groom (separately). During the day I tend to just quietly walk round and take photos, apart from the group photos and the couple portraits when I like to instruct people a little bit. I love good party photos, so I stay whenever people start dancing after the first dance and I usually leave when I feel that I've got enough got photos or I sense that your guests don't want to be photographed anymore (like when the boys starting riding a panda bear statue). If I can I send or post a little sneak peak a few days after the wedding and deliver the images in 8-10 weeks time.

What is the No. 1 photo that you think every couple should take?

A photo with their parents. My most precious photo from our wedding is when my Mum and I first looked into each other's eyes after the ceremony.

What is the most original photo you’ve been asked to take at a wedding?

Yep, it has to be the panda photo. 3 ushers riding a real size panda bear.

What do you recommend for a rainy day wedding?

Stay inside, get close and stand by a window. Or if you feel good about the rain, let's take your shots off and go outside together. As long as you're happy, your wedding will be great!

Describe how you got into photography.

Visual art has always played a big role in my life. It started with being ‘the artsy kid’ in the class, then going to an Art School at the age of 14 to study graphic and ceramic design. This path of formal education involved all sort of visual art exercises, including mastering the skill of drawing portraits and stills. Photography as a medium came later into my life but because of my past, I had the basic concept of light, colours and composition.
