What is your most memorable wedding?
After photographing 130+ weddings to date I couldn't possibly name just one - but it's the wedding days that are the most fun and less conforming to tradition that I like to think back on!
Describe your style in 5 adjectives.
Natural, Romantic, Emotive, Relaxed, Documentary.
What about your business are you most proud of?
I am so proud that I get the honour of capturing so many beautiful memories for my couples that I know they and their families will cherish for generations to come. As a photographer, there's not much that beats knowing your work is on display in happy homes all over the world!
What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?
Do whatever YOU want to do - don't feel pressured to stick to traditions or doing things to please others. It's YOUR day!
What is your favourite personal touch you have seen at a wedding?
One of my 2022 brides had made a wedding newspaper to be placed on all the tables for guests to look at - it included photos from their couple shoot, articles on the pair and how they met, as well as a personal crossword puzzle!
Describe your typical process with a couple.
All couples who book with me get a pre-wedding shoot, regardless of which package they choose. This will take place in either the Spring or Autumn before the wedding day, outside of peak wedding season. This session is invaluable, not just for me but for the couple too - it's our chance to meet before the big day, talk through your plans and for you to get to see how I work so that (hopefully) those camera-nerves will surpass by the time the big day comes along.
In the run up to the wedding I'll send you a questionnaire, this is where you can detail all the information I'll need including timings and group shot list.
On the day itself I tend to begin around 2hrs prior to the ceremony to capture the morning preparations, and will be with you throughout the whole day until a little after the first dance. Don't worry - I leave you to enjoy the party after that!
After the wedding I'll usually send a small selection of previews within a couple of days whilst you wait for the full gallery - not that you'll be waiting long, as my average turnaround time is about 10 days! You'll receive an incredible gallery of photos online where you can view, share and even order prints of your favourite pictures with ease. What more could you ask for?
What is the No. 1 photo that you think every couple should take?
I love the couple portraits - not just for the pretty pictures, but for the couple it's often the first time on the wedding day where they can be 'alone' without being surrounded by guests which allows them to really take it in. The day will go by so fast, you'll really appreciate those few moments together.
What is the most original photo you’ve been asked to take at a wedding?
This one is tough, because I really do believe that every wedding is different and unique in its' own way. Why not head over to my website and decide for yourself?
What do you recommend for a rainy day wedding?
I always recommend couples choose a venue with beautiful interior as well as exterior, so that worst case we can still get some lovely photos indoors. Failing that, I always have a couple of pretty umbrellas in my car if you want to brave the wet weather!
Describe how you got into photography.
I've always loved photography, and would often commandeer my dad's digital camera on holidays when I was young. I was lucky enough to go to a secondary school with a dedicated photography department including a dark room, where I learnt about the more in-depth processes of film photography as well. I got into weddings because someone in my local area had posted on Facebook looking for an assistant for a wedding they were photographing - I absolutely loved it! From there I spent a couple of years finding as much second-shooting work as I could until I eventually took the plunge and started taking my own bookings.
