What is your most memorable wedding?
Ooh, this is a hard one, there are just so many to choose from! I think some of my favourites have been real DIY weddings, be it in a village hall, a barn or a back garden. I love the personal touches it brings - that's what really makes a wedding day stand out.
Describe your style in 5 adjectives.
Fun, candid, documentary, relaxed and unobtrusive. Are they adjectives?! They describe my style quite well, so I'll take that..
What about your business are you most proud of?
The lovely words and thank you notes I receive from my happy couples.
What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?
Don't over plan! Yes, there are certain things you need to think about, you can't just wing a whole wedding, but sometimes you need to allow the small things to slide and enjoy your day. Have fun, spend time with your guests and take some time out during the day to take a quiet walk with your new husband or wife and reflect upon your day. It will go by in a flash!
What is your favourite personal touch you have seen at a wedding?
One wedding I photographed, instead of the traditional cake they had a cake table, and any guest who wanted to could contribute a cake. It was A-mazing! There were brownies from friends, a fruit cake from Granny, a lemon drizzle from one of the Dads, chocolate cake from a cousin... all sorts of fabulous treats.
Describe your typical process with a couple.
I always like to have a chat to my couples before they book with me, sometimes in person and sometimes over the phone, depending on locations.
We will almost always meet in person in the build up to the big day. We can take this time to go through the finer details, such as the timings of the day and any particular photographs you may have in mind. On the day of your wedding, I will usually be with you from Bridal or Groom preparations in the morning, right the way through till your first dance in the evening. Quite possibly for some dancing too!
After the wedding, you can expect to receive your online gallery within about 6 weeks, with your USB following a week or so after that.
What is the No. 1 photo that you think every couple should take?
I honestly don't think there is one 'must have' photo. Every couple are different, every family is different and every wedding is different. Focus on what is important to YOU, not what everyone else thinks you should have.
What is the most original photo you’ve been asked to take at a wedding?
A Bride and Groom with a Highland Cow!! Slightly scary actually - I didn't realise quite how HUGE those things are!
What do you recommend for a rainy day wedding?
Pull on some wellies, put up an umbrella and grab a glass or two of champagne! You can't change the weather, so embrace it as part of your day!
