The last wedding I photographed on any given week! I am so emotionally invested in every wedding I shoot which is a gift and a curse. Being so involved means that I want to give my absolute best to every couple which is a lot of pressure! However it is this pressure that drives my work forwards and keeps me progressing.
Personal, genuine, natural, emotive, FUN!
One of the things I often get praised for is one of the things I put the least effort into which is my conduct on the day. I am not a fan of blowing my own trumpet so I will let my facebook reviews do the talking here!
Just one tip? Head over to my blog for my post on 5 wedding planning recommendations :)
I really, really appreciate personal touches. I am often booked to shoot DIY weddings which I LOVE as everything has a little more meaning when it has been created by the very families involved in the wedding.
Additionally, I really like things in weddings that have a special significance to the couple. Whether this be centrepieces relating to their travels together or little things to remember absent friends and family, these are the things that can really make a wedding extra special.
How can you possibly have a typical process when every couple is so different?!
I guess my general style is to be very open and listen to what the couple are looking for. If this means not taking a booking because my style isn't what they are after, I would rather do that than disappoint.
I also want to get to know the couple. I want them to think of me almost as a guest at the wedding who is going to capture them beautiful images, not that annoying, bossy photographer that everyone has seen before!
Some couples have a gentle, romantic kind of love. Some couples have a goofy, playful kind of love. Some have a bit of both, others have something different altogether.
In my eyes, the number one photograph every couple should have is one that shows the true nature of their relationship. This is why some of my photographs show couples looking longingly into each others eyes, and others show them stuffing corn in each others ears! It all depends on the dynamic between the two.
The groom I am shooting at the weekend is getting up on the stage mid set to play drums with the band, seriously excited to shoot that!
Making plans for rain prior to the wedding means you can still make the most of the day if it does happen. Not only this but you won't be so worried about the possibility of rain if you know you have a fantastic day planned either way!
If the weather forecast is looking a bit dubious, buy a bunch of large, clear umbrellas. This way, you can still get some shots outside. Rain can be used to get some really cool, dramatic shots!
I can hardly remember a time when I didn't take photographs. To be honest, it is just a passion that has got wildly out of hand in the best of ways!
