I've shot well over 300 weddings, there are SO many memorable ones - SOOO MANNNY! I'm blessed with awesome couples, who choose beautiful locations to get married! I've been lucky enough to shoot weddings in Australia and New Zealand and shot in some outrageous spots over there with truly some of the nicest people I've met - plus I've shot for friends who I've known for years and their weddings have meant so much to me too - every single wedding I've shot has had a piece of my heart however big or small.
Fun, Modern, Relaxed, Creative, Natural
The fact that so many of my couples become my friends after I've worked with them!
Choose suppliers that make you feel comfortable and are authentic, not trying to be someone else!
Weddings that are conducted by a celebrant, they always feel more sincere and get to know the couple (if they don't already) this kind of ceremony is usually outside or in a couples favourite place, not necessarily in a place sanctioned by law to hold a ceremony. Taking the legalities out of the process can be quite liberating and more personal sometimes....
Friendly emails to get to know one another a little, then a video call and lots of chatting to hear about all the plans and ideas, then it's up to the couple if they'd like to go ahead! After the 'yes' then we keep in touch until the big day, and have a big old final meeting before the date to go through all the details that I need, and also do separate questionnaires for each person in the couple to get across their personal thoughts, needs or requests. Then it's the big day! We have hopefully already met and can be super comfy around each other - the plan is always to have lots of fun and giggles whilst the couple spend the day celebrating!
One where they are both in fits of laughter!
Luckily - I don't often get 'asked' for photos, my couples usually trust me and run with me when I make suggestions and have ideas!
Not being too high maintenance about it! There is nothing you can do if it rains so grab an umbrella, stick on some wellies and go laugh in the rain with your wife or husband - just enjoy every second whatever the weather!
My father was a landscape photographer and we had film cameras when I was growing up, I did an A-Level in film photography and dark room processing, then taught myself how to use photoshop and started shooting digitally when I got to University and was studying magazine journalism. I had an amazing teacher in my second year that gave me the confidence to shoot more and think about it more seriously. I started shooting freelance in a studio straight out of Uni and worked there for four and a half years learning as I went. I then started shooting weddings with a somewhat creepy wedding photographer who taught everything I shouldn't do!! It made me want to be completely myself as a brand, not wanting to act like the typical stereotype 'photographer', 16 years down the line, here I am shooting weddings for a living, getting to meet amazing couples and shoot in incredible places. Life is good!
