Located in the charming village of Broughton, just 25 miles from Edinburgh, Ross Barber brings 20 years of experience capturing weddings across Scotland. From the lush Borders to the stunning Highlands, Ross has photographed celebrations in every season and setting. This deep experience means he stays calm, confident, and flexible—no matter the weather or venue—so you can relax and enjoy your day.

Ross knows every wedding is a unique story made up of your people, places, and moments. He sees his role as a privilege and is dedicated to telling the full story of your day. By getting to know you and understanding your vision, he ensures your wedding photos truly reflect your style and emotions.

What You Can Expect

  • Pre-Wedding Consultation: Before your big day, you’ll have a relaxed meeting with Ross to chat about your plans, share ideas, and make sure his photography style fits perfectly with your vision.
  • Full-Day Coverage: Ross typically covers your wedding from bridal preparations through to about 45 minutes after the first dance—usually 9 to 10 hours. This way, every smile, laugh, and tear from your friends and family is beautifully captured.
  • Professionally Edited Images: After your wedding, you’ll receive 400–450 high-resolution, carefully edited photos. Ross focuses on quality over quantity, so each image is a meaningful part of your story.
  • Secure Online Gallery: Your photos will be delivered in a password-protected online gallery, making it easy to view, download, print, and share your memories with loved ones.

Flexible Packages Tailored to Your Wedding

While full-day coverage is Ross’s standard offering, he understands that every wedding is different. For mid-week or smaller celebrations, shorter coverage can be arranged and booked by the hour. Whatever your needs, Ross is committed to creating a beautiful collection of images that let you relive the joy and emotion of your wedding day for years to come.

FAQs
Find out a bit more from our FAQs

What is your most memorable wedding?

Where the bride and groom dressed as King Arthur and Maid Marian....in full suit of armour etc! As the wedding was in an old castle it was very apt!

Describe your style in 5 adjectives.

Creative. Discrete. Imaginitive. Fun. Relaxed.

What about your business are you most proud of?

That together with the Bride and Groom I create fantastic images that will be seen by generations.

What is your No.1 wedding planning tip for couples?

It is never too early to start planning your wedding, the intervening time goes by in a flash. Book your suppliers as early as you can, the best ones get booked up very early.

What is your favourite personal touch you have seen at a wedding?

Where the Bride and Groom whispered their vows to one another, the words were only for each other so it wasn't important for others to hear them.

Describe your typical process with a couple.

Usually it starts with an email, then an informal chat over coffee somewhere whilst looking at images in albums (they always look different when printed). Once booked we would usually do a pre wedding shoot, preferably at the wedding venue. On the day I like to get there super early for another look round the venue then we get into the day. After the wedding the images are usually ready to view on the gallery within a week or two at most.

What is the No.1 photo that you think every couple should take?

Every wedding is completely different and tastes differ as well, ask your photographer to take the images you want, not what he wants!

What is the most original photo you’ve been asked to take at a wedding?

A Bride wanted a shot of her galloping on her horse in her wedding dress, so we set it up the morning after her wedding!!

What do you recommend for a rainy day wedding?

Plan your day so that you have a rainy day option for your photography, it is unusual for it to rain all day, so you have to be prepared to grab the weather window when it arrives.

Describe how you got into photography.

I was always fascinated by seeing an image come to life in the dark room....though that might be showing my age!
